Seminar on 'Emerging Market Potential and Outstanding Career Opportunity' @ EWU

EWU MBA students got the privilege to meet one of the merchants of the country Ms. Naila Chowdhury, CEO, TeleConsult group, during a seminar on 'Emerging Market Potential and Outstanding Career Opportunity' arranged recently by EWU MBA Club. Mr. Jalaluddin Ahmed, Board of Director, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Coordinator, Graduate Studies, EWU also graced the occasion with their presence.

The seminar ended with handing over crests to the 'Battle of the Minds' fighters of EWU for achieving the 1st runner up position. Two MBA Club executive body members were also rewarded for their performance. Ms. Naila Chowdhury handed over the crests to Mr. Arifur Rahman, Promotional Manager as 'best executor' and Ms. Ayesha Bari, PR & Communication Manager, EWU MBA club as 'creative mind'. Dr. Nazrul Islam handed over a crest to Ms. Naila Chowdhury for gracing the occasion.
NSU holds International Conference on Recent Development in Statistical Sciences
A two-day International Conference on Statistical Sciences “Recent Development in Statistical Sciences” was held on 26 and 27 December, 2008 at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC) and Hotel Sarina, jointly organized by North South University (NSU) and Carlton University, Canada. Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Governor, Bangladesh Bank inaugurated the conference on 26th as chief guest and in the closing ceremony held on 27th December at Hotel Sarina, Professor Nazrul Islam, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was present as chief guest. Vice Chancellor of NSU Dr. Hafiz G.A. Siddiqi chaired the session. NSU Foundation Chairman Mr. M.A. Awal, Professor Dr. AK Md. Ehsanes Saleh, Carleton University, Canada, Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, President, Bangladesh Academy of
Sciences, Dr. Shahjahan Khan, Professor, University of Southern Queensland, Australia and CPDS and BBA Director of NSU Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury also spoke among others at the conference. This is the first time such an international conference was held in Bangladesh with the participated from almost all the public and private universities in Bangladesh and as well as USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Kuwait, Iran, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia,
China, Singapore, Japan, Pakistan and India participated in the conference and more than 100 papers from local and International scholars were presented in the conference. International and National renowned Professors, Researchers, Expertise and dignitaries attended the conference.
NUB Student Rupa awarded Best Mooter Medal
Jannatul Farhana Rupa student of Department of Law, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) was awarded the Best Mooter Medel among the Public and Private Universities in the 4th Henry Dunant Mooting Competition Bangladesh Round. This Competition was held recently at Dhaka University Senate Bhavan. NUB Mooting Team had qualified to the semifinal round of this Competition among all public and private universities in Bangladesh.
Seminar at BM College on MDGs and 60th Anniversary of Human Rights Declaration
A day-long seminar on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was organized recently by the Government B.M. College Barisal and the UN Information Centre (UNIC) on the college premises. Eighty brilliant students from twenty departments (four from each) together with their Chairmen took part in the seminar.
Presided over by the Principal of BM College Professor Dr Sirajuddin Ahmed the seminar was addressed by Mahmud Hassan, Deputy Land Reforms Commissioner of Barisal Division and the Vice-Principal of the college Professor Ansaruddin as special guests. Among others Md Maksudur Rahman Khan, Chairman of Political Science, Professor Fatema Siddiqui, Chairperson, Economics Department, M Asaduzzaman, Chairman, Department of Economics, Govt Women's College and Md Ibrahim Khalil, Lecturer, Department of Sociology spoke on the occasion. Ms Sohana Islam Trina gave her speech on behalf of the students present on the occasion. Coordinated jointly by Asstt Professor Akteruzzaman and M Moniruzzaman of UNIC, the key-note paper was presented by the Centre OIC Kazi Ali Reza.
The speakers dwelt in length on the relationship between human rights and the MDGs and urged on the United Nations to become more effective to bring peace in the world. They added that the UN still remains to be the last hope of mankind.
During the hour-long question-answer session representatives of twenty thousand students of BM College expressed deep concern over the issues of poverty, violence, women's rights, human rights and climate change and pledged that they would do their best to contribute towards the achievement of the MDGs in Bangladesh by the year 2015.
The seminar also included screening of two films - one on the historical perspective of Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the other - the historic scene of hoisting the national flag of Bangladesh, for the first time, at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 17 September 1974, making the country the 136th Member country of the UN.
An Unforgettable day of FBA

Faculty of Business Administration of University of Science & Technology Chittagong (USTC) accorded a reception to the new 23rd batch of FBA students. The program was held in USTC Moulana Bhasani Auditorium with the faculty dean Professor Dr Md Solaiman on the chair.
Dr Md. Jafar Alam was present on the occasion as the chief guest. Director, Register addressed the event as special guest. All the teachers of Business Faculty were present at the occasion. The program was organized by the senior students of FBA.
After the symposium a cultural program was organized by the students in the evening. Renowned artistes of Chittagong performed at the program. Students from MBBS, Pharmacy, FEST, DELL and other faculty with foreigner students enjoyed the program.
Seminar on education held

The Schetan and Barandra Unnayan Prochesta, two local non-government organizations of Rajshahi organized a seminar on Commercialization of education in association with Actionaid Bangladesh on Dec. 23. Researcher on education Asik Sarwar presented a research paper titled “privatization of education” while researcher Sirajul Islam presented a keynote paper on “Commercialization of Education”.
The program was moderated by Rajshahi University Prof. A.N. M. Saleh while coordinator of Barandra Unnayan Prochesta M. Faizullah Chowdhury and Executive director of Sachetan Hasibul Islam gave their speeches.
Students from Rajshahi University, Northern University, Asian University, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, University of Information Technology and Sciences, Rajshahi campus and several colleges under National University took part in the seminar.
