BUET Alumni Reunion
Role of technology for development stressed

NOBEL laureate Prof Mohammad Yunus stressed the need for development of technology, especially information technology (IT), for overall progress of the country.

“Only the development of technology can change the fate of the nation as it has brought about dramatic change in the whole world," he said while speaking at a reunion of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Alumni Association (BUETAA) as chief guest. Organized by BUETAA, the reunion-2009 of the Association, sponsored by the Grameen Phone, was held at the playground of the university.

The reunion virtually turned into a colourful gathering with prominent architects, engineers, politicians, intellectuals and other distinguished personalities, who reminisced their student lives with the presence of their contemporaries in the university. Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University and president of BUETAA, presided over the function while Prof. Dr. Abdur Rauf, acting VC of the BUET, Sadiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Executive Director of BUETAA, Arif Al Islam, Chief executive officer of the Grameen Phone, spoke on the occasion. Prof Yunus said,

“The world has been experiencing rapid change by the virtue of technology and we also have to bring about change in our country soon through the development of our technology”.
