Study Tour by Business and Economics Club of ADUST

A study tour was recently organized by the students of the Business and Economics club of Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) at Heritage Park.

The objective of the event was to generate awareness among the students about the glorious past of Bangladesh. Prof. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Chairman, School of Business and Economics, ADUST and Prof. A.B.M Rashedul Hasan, Registrar, ADUST, attended the program. The event was concluded with a cultural programme.

 


NSU launches BS in EEE

THE launching ceremony of the newly introduced BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Program at North South University (NSU) was held on 1st April 2009. Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science organized the event. Chairman of UGC Professor Nazrul Islam was present as Chief Guest. Dr. Hafiz G.A. Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor chaired the session. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. S A M Khairul Bashar, Dr. Abul L Haque, Chair, Dept. of EECS and Dr. Mohammad Abdul Matin, EEE program coordinator also spoke on the occasion. Deans, Chairs, Faculty members, students and guardians attended the ceremony.

UGC Chairman Professor Nazrul Islam congratulated the newly enrolled students in BS (EEE) at NSU and said that with respect to the present situation in Bangladesh, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) education is very important and offers lot of opportunities. He also mentioned that, NSU is one of the best private universities in Bangladesh and in the context of globalization, quality education is most essential to face the competition.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Siddiqi welcomed the students and mentioned that NSU introduced the new BS in EEE program efficiently. Dr. Siddiqi assured the new students that NSU is committed to ensure high quality education.

Pro. VC Dr. S A M Khairul Bashar gave a speech on EEE in context to the rapid changes in technology. Keeping these changes in mind NSU has introduced BS program for the student who will face the future challenge.


ULAB organizes Fund raising program for the Handicapped

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB)'s Social Welfare Club has organized a fund raising and awareness building cultural program for the handicapped on 12 April, 2009. The event was held at ULAB's Dhanmondi campus auditorium. The program began with a colourful performance by a cultural group of handicapped performers of the Bangladesh Protibandhi Foundation. Later a number of musical bands along with 'Bangla' rocked the audience by their performance. The fund raised from the event was donated to Bangladesh Protibandhi Foundation. The event was sponsored by Grameen Exchange IPLC service providers.


PUST observed day long ‘Baishakhi' program

Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) has celebrated the Pahela Baishakh in Pabna amidst colourful festivity. A rally was brought out on the occasion, followed by blood donation, tree plantation and cultural program on the university. Meanwhile PUST had organized Baishakhi program with the participation of disabled people.

The University authority had organised a Panta-Ilish program in the campus where the disabled people also participated. Lawmaker of Pabna-4 constituency Md. Samsur Rahman Sarif Dilu was present in Pantha-Ilish program in the university campus.

Later the blood donation program was held in the university campus. The students of the university donated blood in the program. The lawmaker of Pabna-5 constituency Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince was present in this blood donation program and also the cultural program.

Later the students of the university performed in a cultural function. Also a friendship cricket match and a tree plantation program were held marking the occasion. University students and teachers planted over hundred trees on the Dhaka-Pabna highway.


Seminar held at ASAUB

THE Department of Law of ASA University Bangladesh arranged a Seminar on ‘Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage in Bangladesh: From Legal and Religious Perspective’ at ASA University auditorium. Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury, High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh was present at the ceremony as the Cheif Guest. Prof. Tareq M.R. Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Social Science and Law, presided over the ceremony while Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the university was present as the chief discussant. Prof. M. Saiful Islam, Registrar, ASA University Bangladesh, Md. Alamgir Mohiuddin, Editor, The Daily Naya Diganta, Prof. Maimul Ahsan Khan, Former Chairman, Department of Law, University of Dhaka, were also present as special discussants.

The Chief guest addressed the auidence while mentioning various provisions of different laws prevailing in Bangladesh on marriage and dissolution of marriage. She highlighted the exigencies of new laws on Hindu Marriage and divorce.

Prof. Khan addressed the pros and cons of marriage and dissolution of marriage. The Chair of the seminar Prof. Tareq M.R. Chowdhury empahsized on the empowerment of women and thanked the key note speakers and the respective authors for their contribution in the legal arena.


Prize Distribution of Ideal Kallso Academy Held

THE annual prize distribution ceremony of Ideal Kallso Academy was held recently. The program was presided over by Moklusher Rahman ,one of the founders of the school while the Chief Guest at the occasion was Prof. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Chairman, School of Business and Economics, Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology. In the ceremony the “Late Professor and eminent Intellectual Mobasher Ali student award-2008” was given to Sadia Rahman Sriti. Among others Dr. Ruhul Amin, Salimullah Munshi, Nihar Ranjan Sutar, Sujit Kumar Das were present. The program was ended with a colourful cultural program.


Seminar on World Recession held at Stamford University

A seminar titled ‘World economic recession and its impact on Bangladesh's Economy’ was organized by the Journalism and Media Department of Stamford University Bangladesh on 28 March 2009 at its Dhanmondi campus. Prof. Kazi Abdul Mannan, Chairman of Journalism Department, presided over the seminar while Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, was present as the main speaker. Md. Zainul Abedin, Executive Vice President; Helaluzzaman, Exam Controller; Dr. A. T. M. Johurul Haque, Chairman of Economics Department and Ex- UGC Chairman were also present in the seminar. Teachers, students and journalists of electronic and print media were present and through a students question answer session the seminar was ended.


Vice Chancellor's Awards Ceremony at BRAC Uiversity

THE Vice Chancellor of BRAC University handed out the VC's award to 16 students, while 4 clubs attained 'Honorable Mention' and 1 club was awarded the Best Club Award (BRAC University Cultural Club) for extraordinary contributions in the categories of arts/culture, sports, entrepreneurial, social welfare, sciences and other subject related aspects. Advisors of all the 5 clubs were also awarded for mentoring their respective clubs. Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, VC, BRAC University in his speech reiterated his support towards student's activity in various arenas locally and internationally to promote our culture and heritage, uplift entrepreneurship, and encourage humanity. Prof. Choudhury then inaugurated the Student Affairs brochure for the year 2007-08. The presence of Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Pro-VC, BRACU, heads of all departments, members of faculties, students and administrative officials also graced the function. The following students were awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Student Award: Khandaker Wasim Reza Tanmoy, Md. Eftakharul Islam, Md. Rifat Hasan Kanak, Md. Saddam Hossain, Hasan Sameer, Md. Mashur S. Khan, Md. Iftekharul Islam Rumon, Shafequl Alam Masum, Md. Maksudul Hasan, Joynub Nabila Obayed, Arefin Ahamed Diner, Mahnaz Nazneen, Sarah Ahsan, M.K.M. Ferdous Hasan, Salman Raihan Khan and Saikat Ahmed.


Independence Day Celebrated at KYAMCH

"Asthi te amar Shadhinotar ghran”, keeping this slogan in heart the students of KYAMCH celebrated The Independence Day 2009 in their college premises. The cultural committee of the university organised the event. The program was started by Prof. Zulfikar Ali, with the inauguration of Photo Exhibition in the college conference room. The event was organised with the help of Department of Fine Arts, University of Rajshahi and Liberation War Museum. At 12 noon, a documentary film was shown. The movie titled ‘Mukti Juddher Itihash’ and directed by Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman, ATN Bangla was aired after a short speech given by the honourable chief guest, Mr. M. Shamsul Huda, Advisor, Sales and Marketing. Speeches were also given by
special guest Prof. Hossain Reza, Principal, KYAMCH and Prof. Zulfikar Ali.

There was a friendly cricket match at 3.00pm organised by Dr. S.M. Jalal Uddin, Advisor, Sports Committee of KYAMC. The daylong program ended with an excellent cultural show. The entire program was coordinated by Shahed Imran in the guidance of Dr. Ashim Kr. Sengupta, Advisor, Cultural and Literary Committee.
