Mutasim Hossain

INVESTITURE Ceremony provides the Rover Squares an access to diversified scouting activities. Students come to Dhaka University with an exclusive spirit of youth which, with appropriate directions, can be moulded into the form of a powerful sculpture. In line with this belief the “Investiture Ceremony and Annual Camp” was held at Dhaka University Rover Scout from 25th March to 27 March.

The Independence Day was chosen within the camp duration so that the prospective rovers can embolden themselves from their inner spirit to serve the country. The Vice Chancellor and Chief Patron of DURS Dr. A. A. M.S. Arefin Siddique inaugurated the camp as the chief guest on 25th March 2009. Professor Mahbubul Alam, the former national commissioner and former secretary of rover region was present as the special guest. Professor Ramjul Huq, Group Secretary and Prof. Dr. A Q M Mahbub, treasurer of DURS and other Rover Scout Leaders were also present in the program. The new Vice Chancellor was also present in the inauguration ceremony. In the opening speech the Vice Chancellor asked the prospective rovers to devote themselves to scouting as well to serve the country besides their academic studies. The major programs of the event included Fundamentals of Scouting, Camping and Hiking. Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam khan, (National Commissioner), Training and 1st PRS of DURS described the fundamentals and multidimensional aspects of Scouting with a Power Point Presentation which added distinct value to the program. Professor Dr. Mijanur Rahman, the Treasurer of Dhaka University was present as the chief guest in the camp fire, along with Mr. Md. Kamal Uddin (special guest), former national commissioner and president of Dhaka University PRS and Ex-Senior Rover Mate Forum. With other regular events an exclusive documentary on the evolution of Dhaka University Rover Scout Group was also shown during the camp fire.

Professor Ramjul Huq, the Group Secretary directed the investiture ceremony on 27 March with other RSLs. Forty five rovers and Girl in Rovers recited the Scout promise and entered into the Scout movement with the spirit of serving the country. The rovers expressed their strong determination to keep the scout promise in words and deeds. One of the rovers was quoted saying “I think it is the best possible path to serve the country through achieving moral values and self development with the best utilization of time.”
