1st Inter Department and 3rd Inter Semester Debate Competition organised by Debate Club of Law Department was held recently at Premier University, Chittagong.

'Political corruption is more dangerous than that of administrative corruption' was the motion of the 1st Inter Department Debate Final. Law Department defeated Engineering Department and became the champion. The winning team comprised of Urme Acharjee, Asadul Hoque, and Asma Al Amin; while the runner up team comprised of Saifuddin Munna, Pian Sen Gupta and Tipu Chowdhury. Urme Acharjee, the leader of the winning team received the best debater award in the final.

While the motion of the 3rd Inter Semester Debate Final was 'A presidential form of government is more appropriate in Bangladesh compared to a parliamentary form of government'. Fifth semester was in favour of the motion and sixth semester against the motion. Sixth semester comprised of Urme Acharjee, Asadul Hoque, and Sharmin Ferdousi, defeating fifth semester comprised of Asma-Al-Amin, Arman Habib and Rupa Akter, became the champion. Sharmin Ferdousi student of sixth semester received the best debater award in this event.

Minhaz, former President, debate club conducted the prize giving ceremony. Dr M. Badaruddin, Chairman, Department of Law, Premier University, was the chief guest of the event while Taufique Sayeed, Assistant Professor and Chairman, Engineering Department was the special guest. Mohammad Moin uddin, Acting Moderator, Debate Club and Lecturer, Dept. of Law, Premier University presided over the program. In this program among others faculty of law S.M. Mohiuddin Hasan, Tanzina Alam Chy, Mahar Nihar, Fahmida Quader and Homira Nowshin, Monir Hossain and Nobonita Guha, President, debate club was present. Arefin Risvi, Former Secretary, debate club coordinated the entire programme.
