An industrial tour by IEEE
BUET Student Branch

THE IEEE BUET student branch on June 18 arranged for an industrial tour at the Savar compound of ENERGYPAC. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is a non-profit organisation, which is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology in the Electrical and Electronics arena comprising of more than 375,000 members in more than 160 countries. Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has a student branch, which is under the Bangladesh section in Region 10 of IEEE under the supervision of the counselor of the student branch Prof. Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan.

Ten members of this branch participated in this tour, which was supervised by Mr. S M Shafiul Alam, a lecturer of EEE dept., BUET. In this tour the members were benefited substantially by watching the process of manufacturing of transformers and various power transmission and generation related machinery from the raw material processing to finishing which is very much helpful for both the study and industrial empiricism. The tour was guided by some of the engineers of ENERGYPAC who helped establish a clear understanding of the various processes of manufacturing.

Such a technical tour is really very helpful for the engineering students especially for those who want to be affiliated with the industry from the very early stage. From transportation to refreshment, every step of the tour was conducted very responsibly by the student branch.

It is really good news for the engineering students of Bangladesh that lots of industries related to engineering field are willing to stretch their hand to help the enthusiastic students. But sometimes it is needed to have platform for this type of vital experience for engineering students. And IEEE student branch is probably the best option suited for this. IEEE BUET student branch is always open for the vibrant students who look for more besides the study to enrich the capability, supremacy and leadership of individuals.
