The need of a healthy environment

Shushmita Ahmed

EVEN during the current digital era, rural areas of Bangladesh are being left out from the privilege of development. Around 80% of the people of our country live in villages. Hence it is necessary to fulfill the basic needs of human rights, and most importantly to focus on agriculture, primary and secondary education, sanitation and health.

The studies regarding health and environment in Jalgaon village Moddhya para, Comilla define the current living conditions of the villagers, and also concentrate on the health and environmental resources of the village. According to an analysis it has been found that a limited number of the villagers are now more conscious about their health and less conscious about the environment.

It is true that people need to be concerned about some rules and regulations to keep the environment sound. Therefore we have explained the villagers about some rules regarding hygiene and sanitation and how to keep their environment fresh and clean.

For lack of education and awareness, these innocent people are being cheated badly everyday. During the survey in the local market of Comilla, it was found that there are many things sold in the market that is necessary for the livelihood but majority of those products are counterfeited. One does not have to be an expert to recognise them as fake because of the spelling mistakes or wrong names written on the products. For example, it was discovered that a product sold as 'Joba coconut oil' was being sold in the container of 'Parachute coconut oil'. The Product named as 'Finish' was written as 'Finich', the fairness cream packet of 'Fair & Lovely' was written as “Fair & Lovaly', the drink 'Tang' was written as 'Tinge' and 'High-tech super glue' was sold in the packet of 'High-teco super glue'.

The majority of the people are living under poverty line. But those swindle product makers are also deteriorating the situation. My earnest pray to the authority is to guard cautiously these issues.
