Losing Ourselves

Jyoti Jayatree Paul

HUMAN race craves for power more than anything else. Sheer power to control over others in their domain. Limitless power to posses the world. But if we travel back in time we will come to realise that the early men were a part of the ecosystem and had no intention of ruling the system which helped sustain their lives. Due to the rapid development of our civilisation we not only are forgetting the reason for our survival but also ourselves. We are draped in greed, destruction, and power to posses anything we lay our eyes on, and more importantly, not having a reason that can be worth living.

We are always bothered about how much profit we can make out of our business, the number of branded cars we own, the number of houses which we have in various countries and so on, but we are forgetting the little joys in life like showing humanity to the underprivileged people, sharing the precious moments with our loved ones and so on. If life is all about winning, then I will definitely vote for losing as it clearly shows that 80 percent of the population is only pushed by greed and jealousy to win. ' The best' example that I can give you is about the former President of the United States George W Bush. He actually wantedultimate power.

We do not know who we are as we do not have any time for ourselves. We cheat hundreds of people everyday but we do not realise how much we are cheating ourselves. As Leonardo Da Vinci once said " Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O Wretched mortals, open your eyes!" We should all remember that at the end of the day we are by ourselves and we do not carry any visible wealth with us. So don't you think it is a wise decision to have a good fruitful life rather than carry the filth which we crave for. For now I will leave the decision to you.
