Aftermath- Live Party at RCC

Nusrat Jahan

ON 18 August, the biggest underground mixed genre concert took place in the Russian Cultural Centre. A.P.D with Shib-B and Norwester Sharod opened the hip hop session. “Hip hop is probably the newest genre in our Bangladeshi music” said Matz from Tod, “But it's gaining massive popularity.” The crowd chimed in to the chorus “HIP HOP” as Tod's , Grand T, Zax, Skylls and Ady sang the song. Tod's performance of Matz, Scratch and MTP earned a lot of kudos. D33's Fade, Shady, Shoky, Zeson and Maung were the pros in on-stage freestyle.

Uptown Lokolz Black, Big Spade and Safa got the audience up on their feet dancing. Deshi MC's Skibkhan, MC Mugz and Nahiyan came back with their hit songs about Bangladehsi hip hop. Their album Banned Version 2.0 uncensored was released at the concert.

Amongst solos there were Spicy Opera and Riaz. This brought a bit of jazz, a bit of blues to the concert Well, they weren't the only ones. Oblique's Saif, Ridwan, Mahmudul, Badhan and Mahbubul also brought in a different flavour with their alternate rock.

Then there was DJ Crazy, Dj Shohag and Dj Prince Spark. Their awesome party music followed the rock session. This metamorphosis in any concert is rare, as mixed genre concerts are practically unavailable.

Finally for the rockers, there were Ovation, Opus, Vetust and Satanik. One of Alaukik's band member was sick, so they could not perform. Ovation was the group to inaugurate the concert with Forhad's classic voice and Pappu's strong drum beats. Urban Fiction's Diat, Pavel, Tanim, Banin, Enab, Raff and Rashel flamed up the podium with their heavy metal along with Jack, Mishua, Shubho, Shuvz, bab and Moung from.

The concert was organized as a part of the fund-raising program for Charfassion Orphanage by Core Entertainment. It set off from 5 pm. Cobra, Playboy Perfumes for Men and Calvin Klein were the official sponsors. Sound sponsor was SAS. Special sponsor was Kanyakumari boutiques. Student-wish.com was the web partner.

Another fall from grace

ARSENAL'S failure to write off a United side sans their usual flair and flamboyance goes a long way than just a result. It goes on beyond their pensive 180km journey back to London with empty hands, or the hundreds of tabloid headings shredding their match antics down. For, you can well assume that when Arsene Wenger looks back at it all, he will do so with a feeling of grim nostalgia.

It would be harshly gross of me-an ardent United-fan to say us, United were the deserving winners last Saturday. Whether it was the wastefulness of Valencia, or the careless Carrick passes. We were for most parts than few, the lesser of the two sides. Yet, when Mike Dean blew the final whistle, it was us clasping onto the points. Arsenal, once again promised much, delivered nothing. It is the irony of this situation that I would like to point to.

Many winters have passed since 'The Invincibles' that sent tremors across the football world. They are still causing tremors, but of the wrong kind you might argue. Not only is it the absence of silverware, but it is the manner in which they seem to lose grasp of it that blurs me. Be it last season in the champion's league, when it all went shambles at home after a spirited first leg display or the great slump in form that saw them humiliated to lowly sides in the league. They have always managed to fall dramatically after being billed up to go on further. And the fact that it has happened more often than not in the last few seasons is disturbing. Furthermore, for a side brimming with so much talent, the failure is all the more questionable! Much has been made of Arsene' quest for the right blend, and after 2 games and 10 goals he may have even afforded a sense of satisfaction. Yet it all became nonsense, when Diaby comically headed into his own goal. 3points lost and more fingers pointed.
