TIB celebrated International Youth Day 2009

''INVINCIBLE Youth Will Surely Resist Corruption” with this slogan, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and Youth Engagement and Support (YES) groups of Dhaka organized anti-corruption rally, cartoon exhibition, debate competition and youth congregation to celebrate International Youth Day (IYD) 2009. The day also saw official inauguration of YES campaign in Dhaka.

The day-long celebration started in the morning with the anti-corruption cartoon exhibition at TSC of University of Dhaka (DU) followed by anti-corruption rally which was inaugurated by DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. A. A. M. S. Arefin Siddique and were attended by a large number of students besides the YES members. Besides, two vans carrying anti-corruption cartoons also roamed around different important places of the city.

An anti-corruption debate competition was also organized at the conference hall of the Department of Management Studies of DU where Farah Diba Mitul of Kuwait Friendship Hall bagged the first position while Antara Biswas and Kuasha Pal of Rokeya Hall came out second and third respectively.

The youth congregation was held in the evening at Bangabandhu Conference Hall where different anti-corruption activities of Dhaka YES groups were shown through laser show, followed by a well-choreographed performance with TIB's theme song “Jago Manush” after which the awards among the debaters were distributed. All the YES groups of Dhaka also performed at the event. VC of IBAIS University Khandokar Rezaur Rahman and TIB Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman also spoke at the occasion.

The day-long event came to an end with enchanting music from Ayub Bachchu.

The members of different YES groups of Dhaka participated in the event. The media partner of the event was Channel i, ABC Radio, Metro net and BD Jobs and was telecast live through the web link- www.metro.net.bd/TIB/.
