The Duke of Edinburgh's Award:
Adventurous Journey to Nepal

Shahriar Rahman

On 28 September 2009, the seven participants of the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DEA) of AIUB along with their Award Leader, A.K. Nazmul, embarked on an adventurous journey to Nepal. This was the first ever foreign journey ventured by a university in Bangladesh under the DEA programme. The journey lasted for 4 days and 3 nights, but will surely serve as a memory of a lifetime for all the participants. The trip was special in many ways - for almost all the students it was the first ever foreign trip without their families; and perhaps was an additional test to the whole notion of their 'Adventurous Journey challenge'.
The adventurous journey to the mountainous valleys of Nepal, took the eight member group through an unforgettable experience that will last them a lifetime. The walks through the city, the hikes up the mountains, the feel of their culture, and last but not the least, the spectacular view of the Mt. Everest and the Himalayas left all the team members mezmerised!
The risks the group faced together as a part of the journey, the luck the members tried out there, and especially the combined efforts they all put in to make the trip a successful one culminated in a delightful experience.
