Sunbeams Celebrates 36 Years of Excellence

UNBEAMS School celebrated its 36th anniversary recently. The school was established on 15th January 1974 with the aim to give a challenging and enriching academic experience to its students. Sunbeams strives to make education and learning a joyful experience by imparting in its students the seven qualities represented by the seven beams of the Sun in the school's logo- knowledge; skills & learning; leadership & initiative; faith & patriotism; humility & tolerance; integrity & honesty; confidence, self-reliance & commitment.
Alongside academic excellence, over the years, Sunbeams has encouraged its students to achieve excellence in extra-academic activities. A growing collection of awards in drawings, dance, art and music; in debates, and in sports at a national level bears testimony to Sunbeams' achievement.
In spite of teaching an international curriculum, Sunbeams has always placed emphasis on the culture of Bangladesh to develop a sense of patriotism among the students. Sunbeams students develop loyalty to Bangladesh, its language and its culture. The students develop a sense of commitment to the under-privileged and poor in Bangladesh. Community service is integral to the ethos of the school. Students are encouraged to participate in programmes that benefit the community. The school observes National Days like Ekushey February, Independence Day, Victory Day and Pahela Baishakh to emphasise students on the importance of these days in Bangladesh and its people.
The school has two campuses. The old school is at Dhanmondi. The new school is at Uttara. With a humble beginning in 1974, after 36 years, today Sunbeams proudly stands as one of the leading schools to offer O and A Levels education in Bangladesh.
