NSU SSC organizes NSU Annual Picnic 2010

THE North South University Social Services Club (NSU SSC) organized the NSU Annual Picnic 2010 on 11th February 2010 at Sabah Garden, Gazipur. Approximately 1200 students attended the picnic. Dr. S.A.M Khairul Bashar, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU, the proctor, the club coordinator, the deans & chairmen of different departments, some senior lecturers, NSU admin, 100 NSU staff and members of the former executive bodies of NSU SSC were also present. There were twenty 52-seater buses and some microbuses that headed from the Bashundhara campus at 9:50 am, arriving at the picnic spot at 12:30 pm. Promptly, a team from Nestlé BD Ltd. started providing refreshing instant coffee to the attendees. Soon, the boys engaged in a mini football tournament, while the girls gathered in a huge circle for pillow passing. Later on, everybody participated in a lively tug-of-war match. Mr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, Proctor of NSU, and Mr. Mehdi Hussain, Senior Lecturer, School of Business, NSU and Faculty Advisor of NSU SSC took part in the game. Then came a delightful lunch of Kachchi biriyani and chicken roast, after which there was an open-air concert where the popular bands, Aurthohin and Old School, who swept the crowd into a state of frenzy. Culminating the event was the much anticipated raffle draw, where a total of twenty-three prizes were given out, the first prize being a Dhaka-Doha-Dhaka air-ticket, courtesy of Qatar Airways, the exclusive airline partner for the event. Abdul Monem Ltd. and Meghna Group were the two drinks partners, who provided soft drinks and mineral water respectively. The return journey started just after sunset and the students were served with evening refreshments, provided by Mr. Mamoon of the NSU Cafeteria, who was delighted to have contributed for the students who eat at his cafeteria all year round. The students were dropped off at the NSU campus at 9 pm. Overall, it was a refreshing picnic for the participants, and yet another milestone of success for NSU SSC.
