Turkish President Visits
Int'l Turkish Hope School
TURKISH President H.E. Adbullah Gul visited International Turkish Hope School as the final destination of his visit to Bangladesh at 5:50 pm on Sundya.
Turkish President and his spouse Hayrunnisa Gul were accompanied by Turkish State Minister Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aydin and his spouse, Turkish Health Minister Prof. Dr. Recep Akdag and his spouse, Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim and his spouse, Commerce Minister Faruk Khan, Prof. Dr. Alauddin Ahmed - Advisor to Prime Minister, Justice Afzal Hossain Ahmed - Supreme Court of Bangladesh High Court Division, Turkish Parliament Members Mehmet Hanefi Alir, Burhan Kayatuk, Fatma Slaman Kotan, Mehmet Ekici and, Omer Celik, Turkish Ambassador Sakir Ozkan Torunlar, Prof. Dr. Shamsher Ali - President of Bangladesh Academy of sciences, Salahuddin Kasem Khan - Honorary Consul General of Turkey, Syed Marghub Murshed - EX- chairman of BTRC and Turkish and Bangladeshi high officials, eminent journalists, from leading Turkish newspapers, Turkish Businessmen were among the other distinguished guests.
Turkish President's School visit took around 1 hour. The program started with the National Anthems of Bangladesh and Turkey. Turkish and Bangla Songs were presented before the respected audience. During the performance of a song which was sung duet by a Turkish and Bangladeshi students, the President became emotional and was seen wiping his tears.
Following the songs a slide show about Int'l Turkish Hope School, its activities and achievements were shown to the guests. During the program one of ITHS students presented a brass model rickshaw to the President.
After the program, Bayram Saatci Principal of ITHS showed the President around the school. The President, his spouse and the delegation visited KG section and had a chat with the students. Students welcomed them with Bangladesh and Turkey flags. He also signed the visitor's book at the principal room. In his message he wrote "ITHS has been playing its role as a bridge between the two countries. The school, while imparting the education of Bangladesh a great deal, served as a means of carrying and teaching Turkish language and culture to Bangladesh".
Erratum
In the last issue of Star Campus, the name of the writer was inadvertently dropped in the feature article titled "Say it with a rose". The article was written by Shanjida Shahab Uddin Ishita, a student of University of Dhaka. We regret the oversight.
