IN this contemporary world English is not a language but an equipment because most of the correspondence and communication are carried out in English language. Most of the English medium schools in Bangladesh is located in the capital city Dhaka. But students of Sylhet division had no scope to learn English as second language for non-availability of English medium schools for a long time. Henceforth there was a need for setting up an English medium school in Sylhet for putting in order students for the GCE O level Examination.

The Sylhet KhajanchiBari International Collegiate School was established in 1987 as an English medium school. Initially the main objective was to impart English education to the overseas students. Later on the door was opened to all who wished to take English education (Under British Curriculum) of the highest standard in this part of the country. At the moment there are about 900 students with almost all the classes starting from KG-I to O and A level. Apart from this the school has provided the opportunity for the students to study the National Curriculum in English from 2007.

There are about 50 teachers (Including the principal & Vice principal). Amongst teaching staff there are specialized teachers who can teach specialized subjects like English, Physics, Chemistry, Math up to O level. Others are well trained in teaching the lower classes like KG-I, KG-II and other classes. From 1992, the school is being run by a Trustee Board comprising 14 members and headed by the Chairman the Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet. The Trustee Board started a four-storied modern multistoried building in 1997. The students of this school are now serving in and around the world with good reputation, skill and knowledge. It is the pride of this school and college, particularly for the dedicated members of the board of trustees, teachers as well as the students and their guardians. The Sylhet Khajanchibari International School & College has opened the H.S.C National Curriculum (in English) from the academic session 2009. The Sylhet Khajanchibari International School & College is going to open STD-V in National Curriculum (English Medium) from the year 2010.

Founded in order to spread education to the region surrounding the Sylhet district, the Hafiz Majumder Trust founded this institution offering only class XI in 2002 at a rented house in the city's Electric Supply Road at Ambarkhana. There are highly qualified and trained teachers in both the secondary and higher secondary sections as well as in the elementary section.

For ensuring balanced growth for the children, various co-curricular and extracurricular activities are organized regularly.
