Rajshahi Cadet College
A campus that consistently
produces SSC stars
AFTER a lot of expectations, consternation, and fanfare this year's SSC results were published a couple of days ago. Newspapers printed lists of top performing educational institutions -- albeit by the new standards. In almost all the lists of various educational boards various Cadet Colleges figured in. One such stellar Cadet College that came out 2nd in Rajshahi Board is Rajshahi Cadet College or RCC, a picturesque institution standing by the serene bank of the once mighty and roaring Padma, nestled in a remote, dreamy setting in a sleepy hollow village called Muktarpur.
Out of 44 cadets who appeared in this year's SSC examination, 100% achieved GPA 5.0.
What makes such feats of Cadet Colleges in general and RCC in particular so outstanding is the fact that the cadets preparing for SSC or HSC examinations do so without any private “coaching” that is so much a part of life of their “urban” and “non-cadet” counterparts who also featured in the top lists.
Furthermore, these cadets achieve such academic feats even after attending to mandatory morning exercises, afternoon games (this year, RCC hosted the Inter Cadet College Cricket Championship Tournament during the SSC examinations where some of the SSC examinees played with great strides and became the overall Champs), evening prayers, week-end gardening and, most importantly, other co-curricular activities such as debating, acting, music, creative prose, poetry, cartoons, etc., that are published in wall magazines.
The photograph here provides a glimpse of the Academic Block of RCC that is the center place of preparations for all SSC and HSC examinees. In the inset is a group photograph of this year's SSC examinees along with RCC Adjutant and the Acting Principal.
This is not the first time RCC has made it to the pinnacle of success in SSC results. In 2007, out of 42 examinees appearing, 95.30% got GPA 5; in 2008, it was 100% for 47 cadets appearing; and in 2009, GPA 5 achievers were 89.60% out of 48 appearing while this year (2010), as mentioned earlier, RCC not only bounced back to 100% GPA 5 achievers but also made to the 2nd best institution in the board. What is more intriguing is the certainty (at least from past experiences) that the same boys who have made their parents, teachers, and administration proud by their SSC achievements in 2010, will perform likewise in HSC to be held in 2012!
Star Campus wishes them the best in academics, co-curricular activities, and in life in general.
