Study tour of JU's Pharmacy students to India

Saibal Saha Sunny and Ashik Ahmed

‘DO unite to secure your bright' - with such a slogan we started our15-day tour to India on March 15 midnight from the university campus and successfully completed the study tour of a group of 25 students with some of our teachers -Mohammad Mafruhi Sattar, Dr. Sukalyan Kumar Kundu and Md. Fakrul Islam. During the 15-day tour we visited many historical and important sites of India that satisfied our desire to know a fascinating country like India. After completing all the formalities at Benapole border, we reached Kolkata on 16th March. Next day, following a tight schedule, we visited Science City, Hawrah Bridge, New Market and Victoria Park. Most enjoyable memory was experiencing underground rail journey known as metro-rail.

After 21 hours exhaustive train journey, we reached our next destination - Agra. The grand old city enriched with many historical Mughal architectures like Tajmahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri took us to the medieval age when this sub-continent was famous all over the world for its wealth and glamour.

On the first day at Agra we visited Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Another example of Mughal aristocracy is Fatehpur Sikri. Some important structures we visited here were - Diwan-E-Aam, Diwan-E-Khas, Jodha Bai Palace and Naubat Khana, the world famous music hall wherever memorable music maestro Tansen used to perform.

Most awaited visit of our tour at Agra completed the next day. It was nothing but the Mughal masterpiece Tajmahal, one of the seventh medieval wonders of the world. After seeing Tajmahal we truly realized the quotation “There are two types in the world - one who sees the Tajmahal and another who not”.

After Agra visit, we moved for Jaipur, the pink city of India, also the capital of Rajasthan. Here we visited some historical places like Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal and Raj Laxmi Cinema Complex-the most luxurious cinema hall in India. Next day we made a short visit to Ajmeer Sharif and the rest of the day we were busy in shopping. We bought saries, Punjabis and clothes from Sanjay bazaar, Babu bazaar and Zahuri bazaar. Our next destination was Delhi, the capital city of India. Here we visited Gandhi Memorial, Qutb-Minar, Lotus Temple and India Gate.

Next we reached Shimla, the capital of Himachal. It was very thrilling when we were moving from a hill to another through the zigzag road of Shimla. The celestial beauty of green valley and Kufri point astonished us. The last spot of our tour was Manali. We passed the whole day in Rothanpas, Sollan Valley enjoying snow fighting, para gliding, horse riding and a lot of photo-sessions wearing traditional Indian Kulla dress.

After the Manali visit, it was time to come back home eventhough we left India but the memories in our hearts will remain forever because -'May be this tour is the last hurrah of our batch'.
