NORTHERN International Medical College Hospital was established in 2005 in Dhanmondi. The private medical college has fulfilled all the requirements of the ordinance enacted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It is established and run by a human and social welfare institution which is known as International Business Agriculture & Technology (IBAT) trust.

Northern international medical college and hospital is completely different from other private medical colleges that are more orientated towards business and profit. So its smooth progress can create an opportunity to prepare a good doctor even from a very middle class family. On the basis of information, we have got 220 students studying at Northern International Medical College (NIMC). Among all other public and private medical colleges which are run by the university of Dhaka, our first batch stood 4th in the first professional MBBS examination which was held in January 2008. 87.50% students could successfully pass the examination. The students of next few batches are also progressing well towards becoming a successful doctor to serve the nation. The progress of Northern International Medical College is a story of success, whereas, we know, there are lots of complaints against our private medical colleges and some of them have already lost their approval due to failure of following the ordinance.

The Medical College uses effective teaching methods with multimedia and computer software and this ensures the application of a balanced and well planned medical teaching curriculum. Creating a congenial environment for teachers and learners, monitoring and evaluation of all the activities and methods are the features of this Medical College. Every month this Medical College prepares an academic calendar mentioning details of classes, assignments, subjects, evaluations, teachers, places, and times from where students can know about their individual responsibilities. The in-course examination is conducted and evaluated through regular test, periodic test/assignment, completion of card and periodic examination. Since its inception this Medical College has given importance on enriching students with essential knowledge, skill, modern attitude along with their professional development so that students can plan about their future study and training and can be confident to become a doctor of international standard. NIMC has got an administrative department, four well decorated para- clinic and pre-clinical division, computer labs and library. All classrooms, dissection hall, exam hall and museums are fully air conditioned and well decorated. The campus has got 3 lecture halls and 3 seminar/tutorial rooms equipped with multimedia and other visual machines. The library has got a huge collection of textbooks, reference books and journals. Students can borrow books and around 40 students can study here at a time. In addition talented students have the opportunity of receiving 5-10% scholarship alongwith government approved 5% scholarship. The college authority has arranged for scholarship and waver for those who do well in exams of different term and session.

One of the basic problems of private medical college is lack of hospitals which are appropriate for practice. In this regard, Northern International Medical College is an exception which is a multidisciplinary self sufficient medical college with 300 beds. The modern 6 storey building hospital has got 1 lakh square feet space and a land of 20 katha. On the way towards becoming a complete and competent doctor of international standard, the students of Northern international medical college will discover the quality of this college with their real experience. In the mean time NIMCH has drawn the attention of general people with its indoor and outdoor treatment. It is a bit difficult and seems to be dreamy to get treatment at reasonable cost from a posh area like Dhanmondi. NIMCH also provides around 50 free beds for poor patients and cost free medication facility. Moreover, they can buy a ticket of 20 taka and get treatment from specialist doctors of medicine, surgery, gynae, ENT, child, eye, etc. They can get this service from outdoor and it is available from 8 am to 2 pm.
