Forum for Youth Leadership

Yamin Tauseef Jahangir

THE Forum for Youth Leadership was inaugurated on 26 July under the umbrella of The Prothom-AloJobs. The main objective is to bridge the students with the job market and its demand with the help of the corporate people as well as the academicians. The event involved launching of the blog where the students will browse and get the latest information about the job market. It is expected that the blog will serve the purpose of the students as well as the youth in getting the right kind of information. “ We believe this blog will be a big leap towards grooming the future leaders. It may even help them to learn certain ethics and values which will guide to a positive career,” said Shoibal Kumar Kanungo, Head of Operations, Prothom-AloJobs. Mohua Rashid, Country Manager, ACCA also shared her thoughts about the programme and how excited she was to be a part of the event. She thanked the people behind the whole initiative and urged the youth to come forward with their innovative ideas in the competitive world.

Tasnova Khan from American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) gave a wonderful presentation regarding women and their passion. She talked about the lack of education, security and social norms that lead towards several problems for women in their everyday lives. She feels it is high time to change the negative attitude towards women and womanhood. She also mentioned the reasons for which women lag behind in the fast paced world. It is the lack of support and opportunity, misinterpretations of religious values and then there are women who themselves are not aware or concerned. Tasnova believes that everything starts from home which is the proper education. Lastly she said she would encourage her contemporaries to be a woman first and then be a daughter.

Sumaiya Barkat and Aziz from North South University (NSU) gave their presentation on drug addiction. Statistically 18 to 21 ages is the time when teenagers are more vulnerable to drugs. Addicts are always looking for a sense of detachment but when the reality strikes people become more depressed.
