Seminar on earthquake in Dhaka Cantt.
Girls' Public School and College

On 20 September Dhaka Cantt. Girls' Public School and College arranged a daylong seminar and training activities on “How to save people from Earthquake and how to protect yourself from the vulnerabilities”.

The authority arranged an exercise application in the school premises. All the students, teachers and employees of the school took part in the exercise. The school and college authority arranged the programme to create awareness among students on earthquakes.

A multimedia documentary was also screened. The projected presentation contained information on how to protect lives, wealth while reducing vulnerabilities.

The Principal of the college, Lt.Col. Zayedul Islam spoke on the occasion as the Chief Guest while Rezaul Faruq, a teacher, conducted the programme in the college auditorium.


Eid for street children

United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh presented a programme 'Eid for street children' for celebrating Eid with street children who rarely get the opportunity to commemorate festive events. In this initiative UNYSAB sent several street children to corporate houses with bouquet of flowers and handmade Eid greetings cards. UNYSAB also bought eid clothes for the children who were taking part in the event.

Acting president of UNYSAB, Zakir Hassan Titas said, “We have started the initiative from Dhaka city. Soon we will reach Khulna and Chittagong region with our regional wing. This will be a unified platform for professionals and volunteers to meet social commitments”.


IUB Theatre with Children

On September 2,Theatre Club of Independent University, Bangladesh arranged an Iftar Party with a group of orphans from Al-Jamiatul Islamia Miftahul Ulum Orphanage of Middle Badda area. Abdullah Al-Amin, President of IUB Theatre Club was present in the programme. Chief Patron of IUB Theatre Dr G.M. Shahidul Alam mentioned, “IUB Theatre has a continuous run of four years performing in Shilpokola Academy, Public Library Auditorium, National Museum Auditorium and in different universities. Their performances have been highly appreciated. ”

The Sr. Manager of DoSa, Kazi Faruque Ahmed attended the Iftar Party with the members and greeted IUB Theatre for the initiation.

IUB Theatre has also performed a number of dramas at different events, including “Romeo and Juliet”, “Uncle Vanya”, “All This Madness”, “Budo Shaliker Ghade Rao” among others. Their upcoming production of “Jaisa Ka Taisa” will be performed on October 21 in Public Library.

BAU VC's meeting with teachers

On September 20, Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Prof. Dr. M.A Sattar Mandal exchanged views with the deans and teachers of six faculties of the university to gear up the standard of education in the university.

Dr. Mandal said that the aim and objective of the university is to produce skilled agriculturists and agri-scientists enriched with theoretical and practical knowledge. He urged teachers to co-operate in maintaining a congenial educational atmosphere in the university.

Among others ex-VC of BAU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Prof. Manuj Mohan Sen, Prof. Atiar Rahman Mollah, Prof. Raqibunessa Ali, Prof. Tofazzol Hossain Miah, Prof. Dr. M.A.M Yeaheah Khandaker, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Haque, Prof. Dr. Shahroz Mahen Haque and Prof. Md. Ali Akbar addressed the meeting. Some of the high officials of the university administration were also present in the meeting.
