Marks Dental College's Study Tour

As part of extra curricular activities, Marks Dental College (MDC) organised its annual Study Tour-2011 at Jamuna Resort, Kalihati Upazila in Tangail on January 7.

Globally noted ENT surgeon and Founder Chairman of Marks Gen (Retd) Prof. Masudur Rahman Khan were present at the function as the chief guest, while Marks Group Managing Director Farida Begum and Dr Iqbal Masud Khan attended the programme as special guests.

Also present at the function were MDC Principal (acting) Dr AK Hafizuddin Chowdhury, Dr Mushfiqa, Dr Jasim, Dr Shahana, Dr Atiq, and MIMT Principal Prof. Taslimuddin and Academic Director Prof Munshi Azizul Huq and Media Coordinator Md Saiful Islam Russel.

A total of 110 students attended the study tour along with its teachers and invited guests. The programme was concluded by a brief speech of Marks Dental College Course Coordinator and Moderator of the function Dr Mahfuzur Rahman.


Biotechnology in Bangladesh:
Participation of Public and Private Enterprises

To create a research atmosphere in collaboration with public and private organisation a day long seminar on 'Biotechnology in Bangladesh: Participation of Public and Private Enterprises' was organised by the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Dinajpur on January 23. The Vice-Chancellor, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU). Dr. M. Afzal Hossain inaugurated the one day seminar giving more emphasis on creating a linkage between public and private enterprises to promote biotechnology research in Bangladesh. Md. Ruhul Amin, Dean, Faculty of CSE, HSTU and Dr. Md. Anis Khan, Dean, Faculty of Fisheries were present as the special guests at this seminar. Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam and Dr. M.A.M. Yahia Khandoker, in their presentation on animal biotechnology elaborated the prospects of animal reproduction and health related research to keep pace with the improved production. Dr. Md. Samsul Alam spoke about the fish biotechnology research and Dr. Md. Tofazzal Islam focused on crop biotechnology research to enhance the production as a whole. The seminar was conducted by Md. Rashedul Islam, Lecturer, Department of Genetics and Animal Breeding and Dr. Md. Shamim Ahasan, Lecturer, Department of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics. The seminar was chaired by Dr. Md. Abdul Hamid, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science.


Food Festival

The public health club of NSU organised a two day long 'NSU Healthy Food Festival 2011 presented by Pizza Inn' on February 1 and 2, which emphasised on the development of food awareness and promoting health consciousness. There were 21 organisations from the food industry who participated in this festival. Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, North South University Foundation attended the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Dr. Hafiz G A Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor, NSU chaired the occasion. The programme began with a welcome speech by Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Khan, Asst. Professor, Department of Public Health followed by the speech of the guest of honour, Dr. Donald James Gomes, Dean, School of Life Science.
