All Stars Daffodil

All Stars Daffodil staged a drama “We Sing of Equality “at Dhaka University. All Stars Daffodil a group of students from Daffodil International University staged a 20-minute performance of the drama at IBA Auditorium of Dhaka University on March 22, 2011.

Monique Coleman, the UN Youth Champion for the International Year of the Youth arrived in Bangladesh to meet the young people of the country and know about the various challenging issues they have to face. The Youth Campion was invited by UNIC Dhaka Office and was present at the programme.


Reception and farewell held at JU

Department of Anthropology of Jahangirnagar University organised a programme on March 20 at the seminar room of Zahir Raihan auditorium to welcome the 40th batch and to bid farewell to the 34th batch.

The chairman of the department, Prof. Dr Ainoon Naher, addressed the session as chief guest while student advisor of the department Mahmudul Hasan Sumon presided over the function.

Later a cultural function including a fashion show, dance, song, comedy and poetry recitation was organised by the students.

Different teachers from the department, Raseda Akther, Mujibul Anam, Rezowana Karim Snigtha, and Ibrahim Khaled attended the programme.


Orientation of BBA Spring Semester

The orientation programme of Southern University BBA Spring Semester-2011 was held at the conference hall of the University recently. The programme was presided over by B.K Dhor, Head of Business Faculty, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Ali graced the event as the chief guest. Founder of the University Sarwar Jahan addressed the audience as the special guest. Among others, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sharifuzzaman, Asst. Professor Ishrat Jahan, Head, Dept of GED also spoke at the occasion. In his address, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Ali said, “In order to cope with the competitive global market, the students of business administration must keep abreast of latest developments in all branches of the knowledge other than business studies.” Founder Sarwar Jahan dwelt on the vision and mission of the University. After that a cultural programme were arranged. Lecturer of Business Administration, Jamir Uddin compered the occasion.


Independence and National Day 2011 Celebrations at SUB

On the occasion of celebration of Independence and National Day 2011 a discussion meeting was organised on March 27, 2011 at State University of Bangladesh.

Prof. Iftekhar Ghany Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of the University presided over the meeting. Among others Maj. General (Retd.) Dr. M Shajahan, Treasurer and Advisor, School of Health Sciences, Prof. A A K M Lutfuzzaman, Dean, School of Science and Technology and Prof. A Y M Ekram-Ud-Daulah, Registrar spoke on the occasion.


East West University Creative Marketing Club

On March 02, 2011, East West University Creative Marketing Club (CMC) arranged a programme bearing the intention of enhancing students' knowledge about the art of making TVCs. The programme was divided into two segments; one part consisting of a workshop to help the students understand how to create an effective, creative, appealing and most importantly meaningful TVC. The second part of the programme was called “The CMC Ad Award, Spring 2011”. Around six teams who went through rigorous initial screening faced an intense competition to fight for the title of “CMC Ad Award”.

From the team that created a masterpiece like “Beautiful Bangladesh-The School of Life”, CMC was proud to bring Anam Biswas, Copywriter and Masud Parvez, Associate Accounts Manager from Grey Advertising Bangladesh Ltd. Even with the name “Grey” this Multinational Advertising Firm has given Bangladesh such “colouful” and indelible advertisements one after another.

The judges gave their professional reviews and comments and insights to each nominated ad. The title of the “CMC Ad Award” was given to Takbir Hasan Emon for his amazing direction on the TVC regarding “ABC Mango Candy”. The ad is available to watch in the CMC Facebook group: “EWUCMC”.

The three hour programme ended with a speech by Md. Farhan Fruqui, Moderator of CMC. The day was not over yet; the deafening claps and accentuating cheers went on for the students, who showed that they can make professional level TVC-the way they want!


Seminar on “Archeological Excavation, Conservation, Presentation and Research”

Dr. Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Associate Professor of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted a seminar on “Archeological Excavation, Conservation, Presentation and Research on Bhitargarh” on March 21, 2011, at ULAB auditorium. Guests present at the seminar were, Suraiya Begum NDC, Secretary, Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Md. Shafiqul Islam, Director General, Directorate of Archaeology attended the seminar.

In her presentation, Dr. Shahnaj focused on the excavation work on Bhitargarh Archeological site that was undertaken by her and the students of ULAB since 2008. She discussed and showed pictures of the site and the work that has been done so far, mentioning the challenges that she faced during her work. Dr. Shahnaj expressed her utmost gratitude to the Department of Archeology and Museum, Shalmara Bhitargarh High School, Local administration of Bhitargarh and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) for their consistent support.

Director General, Directorate of Archaeology, Md. Shafiqul Islam appreciated the steps taken by ULAB in the excavation project. Suraiya Begum, Secretary, Ministry of Cultural Affairs also thanked Professor Shahnaj for her initiative and hard work and the support by ULAB. ULAB is the only private university funding archeological excavation and research in Bangladesh.

Vice Chancellor of ULAB Professor, Rafiqul Islam, Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Imran Rahman, Registrar, Khaled Mahmood Khan, Vice President of the Board of Trustees ULAB, Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed, were also present at the occasion.
