Walking through the memory lane

“Walking through the memory lane”, a programme on the reflections of residential semester activity of BRAC University was held on March 30 in BRAC CDM auditorium in Savar. The programme organised by the students and the faculties of residential campus of BRAC University showcased the activities and experiences of the students during the residential semester. The parents of the students were invited to see these activities of their children. Before the formal inauguration a group of students presented a song named “RS Potro” in a style of rural “puthi paat.” The whole programme was presented in a news presentation style where two of the RS students acted as the news presenters. The inauguration began with the speech of the Pro Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, Dr. Golam Samdani Fakir. The aim of the programme was well accomplished, making it a successful one. At the end of the programme, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Ainun Nishat gave a speech addressing the parents and the students.


Annual Function

The City School International held an Annual function. Principal Maria Kashif began the function with a warm welcome speech. The senior students presented the play 'The Blue Bird' by Maurice Maeterlinck, which was the highlight of the programme. This play was centered on the theme of 'Happiness'. Prof Ainun Nishat, Vice Chancellor BRAC University was present as the chief guest. He gave speech appreciating the efforts of the management, staff and students of the City School International to make the evening a great success. The Headmistress Mehnuma Ahmed was also present on the occasion.

Award Giving Ceremony and Annual Function of Independent School and College, Chittagong was held on March 30, 2011 in Shilpokola Academy auditorium. Prof. Md.Abu Jafar Chy, Ex Chairman, Chittagong Education Board and Prof. Tayub Chy, Marketing Dept, C.U were present at the programme as chief guest and special guest. The programme was presided over by Md. Masuqur Rahaman, Principal, Independent School and College. In the first part of the programme, the students of the institution were awarded by the guests. Later, a cultural function was organised by the students of the institution.


Independence Day Blood Donation Programme at IUB

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Bangladesh Blood Bank jointly organised a daylong blood donation programme at IUB's permanent campus at Bashundhara on March 30, 2011 to mark the Independence Day. Vice Chancellor (in charge), Professor Omar Rahman was present to inspire and motivate the students. The Division of Students Affairs (DoSA) arranged the programme. Besides students, members of the faculty and management also donated blood.


Discussion on 'Independence and National Day-2011' and Performance of a 'Street Drama'

Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a 'Discussion on War of Liberation and 40 Years of Independence' on the occasion of Independence and National Day-2011 on March 29, 2011 at city campus, NUB. Prof. Dr. M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB was the chief guest in the discussion. Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Registrar, NUB chaired the programme. NUB Theatre performed a Street Drama on War of Liberation titled 'Jonoiko Iman Ali' at Kawran Bazar after the Discussion programme.

Among others, Prof. Dr. Sadruddin Ahmed, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Aqtedar Ahamed Siddiqui, Additional Registrar and Proctor in Charge, NUB spoke as the special guest in the programme. Among the students, Mizanur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan, Kawser Hossain, Salma, Mim, Shayla Zaman, Kamrul Hasan also spoke at the occasion. Aishawrza Jahan, student of the Department of English performed a patriotic song. Abdul Matin, Senior Assistant Registrar, NUB presented the programme.

The discussion programme and street drama were the part of the week-long programmes of NUB on the occasion of the Independence and National Day-2011.


Vote Campaign for Sundarban at IU

A seven day long vote campaign for the Sundarbans was held at Islamic University in Kushtia. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department organised this campaign and brought out a colorful procession on campus seeking votes for the Sundarbans, which is the world's largest mangrove forest, to retain its position among the seven wonders of nature. Around hundreds of students joined the procession on the first day of the week long campaign. Dr. Ahsanul Ambia, Chairman of the CSE Department, inaugurated the campaign giving the vote by his e-mail while IU Banganbandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman Hall provost, Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim, Dr. Mahabubur Rahman and Dr. Atiqur Rahman were also present.
