Silly Tales

Outsmarted … Again!

A guy from my class, who we called 'Mr-know-it-all,' used to play pranks on everyone. One day we thought taking revenge. We had a 'food sale' at school and Mr smartypants ordered a pastry for himself. While he was helping himself, my friend 'accidentally' pushed him and dropped his food. I walked up to him and handed him my pastry sympathetically and he took it. The plan was that when he would finish eating it, I would ask him to pay for it, as I had to go back to class and he would be trapped as he would have no spare money. But Alas! Next morning at my home, a call came from school saying “Your daughter didn't pay for her food. Please come and pay for it. It's for charity!” I never thought that he could actually tell the teachers that I gave it to him and outsmart me instead.

Dress Disaster

It was right before the midterm exams that a new student joined our class. Obviously, we were shocked to see a new student at that time of the year. Our teacher told us to help him socialise and make friends. But we didn't really fall in the 'helping others' category and decided to play a trick on him instead. So one day we went up to him and said that the next day, we will be having our 'Pahela Boishakh' function. We also told him that we all will be wearing sarees and punjabis. The next day, the new student walked into the school in a blazing red Punjabi. We were speechless. It was just a joke and never in our dreams did we think that he would actually believe the nonsense about the 'Pahela Boishakh' function in the middle of June. Later on, the student's parents were called up and his school uniform was brought, along with a week's detention for us!

What's under the bed?

Back in my college days at the hostel, we had a day 'prep time' (study time) from 2.50 pm to 4.00 pm. It was torture for us to study at that time as we would be possessed by sleep after lunch. So, my roommates and I made a plan to sleep during the 'prep time'. We made some comfortable hidden 'beds' under our beds and slept peacefully for some days. But that did not last too long. One day one of the on-duty teachers was furious not to see anyone in our room and upon checking the room thoroughly, he found us under the beds. We were the students of a Cantonment college; what happened afterwards- you can imagine the rest!
