Iftaar vs Traffic

Fasting in a city like Dhaka can be really hard. And I can tell because I have been a victim of it. For students like me, who have their classes ending an hour before the iftaar, it can be pretty demanding for them to stay sane. Added to that, the heat is unbearable. Many students and office goers have to break their fast on the road by drinking water, considering the daily traffic, which by the way goes haywire during the Iftaar time. Many wait till they reach home. Ramadan is about keeping calm and carrying out the fast properly. However, that seems quite improbable, because it's quite easy to lose one's temper in the heat and traffic. People are at each other's throats at the slightest inconvenience. Moreover, commoners have to deal with unbelievable price hikes of food.

Legends Are Never Lost

It's really shocking and hard to believe that our favourite writer Humayun Ahmed has passed away. He was a true legend and was an inspiration to many. He was an author who, with his humorous and witty flair of writing, established a trend of reading books amongst the youth of this country. If the youth had to read any book other than their textbooks, it had to be one of his novels. They queued up at Amar Ekushey Boi Mela to buy his books. It's hard for us to accept the fact that there won't be anymore 'Himu' series. Though he is not with us anymore, he will always remain in our souls with his outstanding literary creations. Star Campus should publish articles about this legend, which would encourage the youth to learn more about him.

About Madrasah Education

How far will the students of madrasah education go? How can they compete with the mainstream students and their activities? The relevant spotlight (July 8, 2012) of Star Campus gave me a lot to think about. Madrasah is a special stream of education. The students of madrasah need to adapt with modern technology and facilities to survive in the mainstream. They should also be open to all kinds of knowledge, news and views so that they can keep up with the ever changing world. At the same time, it is the responsibility of the general students to accept them. It is also important that madrasah students are given facilities to work on their leadership qualities. I hope the new era will also include madrasah students.

Movie to watch!

My Facebook homepage has been flooded by news feeds of 'The Dark Knight Rises.' Friends abroad have been openly praising the movie, making friends here, in the country more and more jealous. Personally, I can't wait to watch the movie! There are couple of other movies that I want to watch, for example 'Common gender.' The movie as I hear was a box office hit and many of my friends thought it was interesting. It's a good thing that I have only three more weeks to go for my semester to be over. After that, I am going for DVD shopping, and also movie nights with friends and cousins. Maybe Star Campus can do a feature on the 'movie culture' of young people. Star Campus can also do some movie reviews to inform the students what movies they should check out, especially during the semester breaks.
