NUB observed National Mourning Day

Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a discussion and doa mahfil in observance of the 37th Death Anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at their Banani campus on August 14. Professor A Y M Abdullah, PhD, Chairman, NUB Trust, was the chief guest and Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB chaired the programme. Rajshahi and Khulna Campuses of NUB also arranged the programme.



National Mourning Day observed at ULAB

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised a seminar titled 'Bangabandhu in Historical Perspective' to mark the National Mourning Day on Aug 14, 2012, in its own campus in Dhanmondi. In the seminar, ULAB's Ex-Vice Chancellor Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam delivered an exclusive speech on the role of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Independence Movement of Bangladesh.

In his speech, Professor Rafiqul Islam described how Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became 'Bangabandhu' to the people of Bangladesh. He also explained the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in formation of Bangladesh. Vice Chancellor, ULAB, Professor Imran Rahman, Heads of different departments, faculty members, staffs and students were present among the audiences.


Teacher's Training held at IUBAT

A workshop titled 'Trainers Training for Faculties' was held recently at the permanent campus of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). The day-long programme gave new insights on higher education. Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Vice-Chancellor, IUBAT inaugurated the programme attended by more than two hundred teachers comprising of chairs, coordinators and faculty members of different colleges and departments. In detailing the 'Quality in Education', 'Human Resource Development' and other core issues, the experts in their deliberation underlined importance on holistic academic development in order to achieve academic, extra-academic, personal, physical and mental development of students to face global challenges at home and abroad.

Academic experts opined a 'Comprehensive Methodology of Training of Trainers for University Teachers' is necessary to ensure proper grooming and orientation of teachers working in universities for establishing complete uniformity of thought in academic matters with respect to mission, vision and academic policy of the university concerned within the broad education policy and relevant laws governing country's higher education.


MBA-- A Fast Track to CIMA

MoU Between BUFT and American and Efird (BD) Ltd

The BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and the American and Efird (BG) Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop academic activities, provide necessary sewing threads, renovate design studio, award for best performing student, product design development and other activities between two organisations on August 12.

The signing ceremony took place at the BUFT Conference Room at Uttara. Muzaffar U Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT, and Angelo Leange, Managing Director, American snf Efird (BG) Ltd, signed the MoU on behalf of their organisation. Siddique, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT graced the ceremony as the chief guest.

Reaz Bin-Mahamood, Member, Board of Trustees, BUFT, was present in the occasion. Professor Dr Syed Masud Husain, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Eng Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (designate), ANM Rafiqul Alam, Registrar of BUFT, High Officials of American and Efird (BG) Ltd, Faculty Members and Officials of BUFT were also present at the occasion.


Chairman of NUB Trust Gets Special Award

Professor Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, PhD, Chairman of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) Trust, achieved Special Award for significant role in the development of higher education sector in Bangladesh. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Honourable Education Minister handed over the award on behalf of the monthly 'Bishwabiddalay Porikroma' at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon on August 4, 2012.
