NATIONAL MOURNING DAY OBSERVED

International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT)

IUBAT observed the National Mourning Day on August 14 to mourn the 37th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Presided by Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Vice Chancellor, IUBAT, Dr Abdul Jabbar, Dr Mujibur Rahman Khan and Dr Abul Khayer discussed the dynamic role of Bangabandhu in different democratic movements. The programme was preceded by Doa Mahfil led by Professor Aman Ullah and ended with an Iftar Party at the Cafeteria of the campus.

European University of Bangladesh (EUB)

The National Mourning Day and the 37th Death Anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed at the European University of Bangladesh (EUB) on August 11. The meeting was addressed by Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP, Founder Chairman, EUB, as the chief guest. Professor Dr Mokbul Ahmed Khan was present as the special guest. Professor Dr Abdul Mannan, Vice-Chancellor, EUB, Dr Abdul Awal Khan, Dean, Faculty of Business, EUB, attended the programme.

ASAUB observed the National Mourning day marking the 37th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with due respect and solemnity on August 15. On the occasion, the authority of ASAUB organised a discussion programme and Doa mahfil. Vice-Chancellor of ASAUB, Professor Md Muinuddin Khan presided over the discussion on the life of Bangabandhu.

Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB)

AUB observed August 15 as the National Mourning Day to mark the 37th anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in a befitting manner. Professor Dr Abulhasan M Sadeq, Vice-Chancellor, AUB, was present as the chief guest at the programme.

Southeast University (SEU)

SEU organised a discussion on National Mourning Day and a doa mahfil at the University Seminar Hall on August 14 to observe the 37th Death Anniversary of Bangabadhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor, SEU, attended the occasion as the chair. Professor Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin, Pro-Vice Chancellor, SEU, delivered his keynote speech.

Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU)

Marking the 37th anniversary of martyrdom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, BAU arranged a day long programme at its campus on August 15. The programme included a mourning procession, placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, discussions, painting competition, milad-mahfil and special offerings. Vice Chancellor of BAU, Professor Dr Md Rafiqul Hoque led the procession as chief guest. The event was attended by teachers, students and employees of the university.

 

Workshop on 'English Language Teaching Methodology'

A tow-day long workshop on 'English Language Teaching Methodology', organised by Dr M Maniruzzaman, Department of English, Jahangirnagar University, was recently held at the Rabeya Khatun Chowdhury Auditorium, Leading University, Sylhet.

In his welcome speech, Professor Nurul Islam Sarder, Department of English, LU, appreciated the relentless effort made by a team with a blend of experienced and young faculty members to guide the students to achieve their goal.

Professor Md Kismatul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor, LU thanked Dr M Maniruzzaman, the participants and the other faculty members for organising such a resourceful workshop on approaches and methods of teaching English Language.


Get-together of Daffodil Foundation Held

To make the students efficient, skilled and fit for the job market, Daffodil Foundation organised a get-together programme at Babur Hat High School and College on August 21. The event was participated by the scholarship holders of the foundation of the locality at different public and private universities and colleges. Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Group, was present as the chief guest while Mosarraf Hossain, Principal, Babur Hat School and College, was present as the special guest.


Farewell Programme at Presidency University

A farewell programme was organised by M H School of Business of Presidency University on August 12 at its Gulshan Campus. Farewell was given to Kaniz Marium Akther, Lecturer of the school. She mentioned that the School of Business believes in quality education. The programme was presided over by Professor Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Head, M H School of Business, Presidency University.


New Head of Department of Textile Engineering, NUB

DR Shah Mohammad Fatah-ur-Rahman joined as the Head of the Department of Textile Engineering of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) recently. Before joining NUB, he was an Associate Professor at Southeast University. Dr Fatah invented a lot of new molecules (functional dyes) and a phenomenal reaction (Intermolecular Photo Red-ox Reaction).

Dr Fatah-ur-Rahman completed his Post Doctoral Fellowship from Leeds University of the UK on Colour Chemistry, PhD and MSc Degree from Kyoto Institute of Technology, Kyoto, Japan. He also completed an advanced training course on 300 MHz NMR at Bruker- Spectrospin, Zurich, Switzerland.
