Aga Khan Inter-School Debating Festival 2012

Maple Leaf International School stood champions in the 'Aga Khan Inter-School Debating Festival 2012', supported by BRAC Bank Limited, held recently in Dhaka. Zeeshan Kingshuk Huq, Head of Communication and Service Quality, BRAC Bank, handed over the trophy to the winning team. BRAC Bank believes in potential of young people of the country and helps them realise their dreams and aspirations.


BUFT observed National Mourning Day

BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) organised a Doa Mahfil to observe National Mourning Day 2012 as declared by the government for the Ashulia and Chittagong tragedies.

All members of BUFT offerred special prayers for the salvation of the deceased souls. Professor Dr Syed Masud Husain, Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, ANM Rafiqul Alam, Registrar of BUFT were present in the programme.

On December 2, 2012 The British School, Dhaka organised a cultural programme titled, 'Bijoyer Ullashe Metey Uthi' to pay homage to the martyrs of 1971 and to celebrate the Victory Day. The programme featured patriotic songs, dances, and recitations rendered by the students of the school. The cultural programme was followed by an Art Competition with the theme, ‘My Country.’


Workshop for Faculty Members at DIU

To enrich and ensure the quality and standards of education, Human Resources Development Institute (HRDI) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organised two workshops titled 'Developing Learning Materials for Social Media' and 'Developing a Research Frame for Educational Technology' for developing the quality of teaching of the faculty members of the university from November 27-29, 2012 at DIU Conference Room.

The Second Parents' Conference 2012 of Green Leaf English Version School was held on November 30, 2012 in the school campus at Kodomtoli, Dhaka. Presided over by the Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Md Alam Sharif, the programme was attended by chief guest Colonel Abdul Baten (Retd), Former Principal, Shaheed Anwar Girls' College, Chittagong Cantonment College, Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College and special guest Dr Ahsan Habib Imrose, Chairman, Global Lighthouse Foundation, Lighthouse Lab School and College.


Rag Day at DU

Students of the 15th batch of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, University of Dhaka (DU) celebrated Rag day on November 27, 2012. The whole Faculty of Business studies (FBS) portrayed a festive look. The future soon to be graduates performed flash mob on the streets of DU.


Journalism and Media Department opened in MIU

A new department named 'Journalism and Media Studies' is coming into function at Manarat International University (MIU) from Spring Semester 2013. Admission is now open to get into the four year long Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies programme at MIU's Mirpur campus.


'Social Camp 2012' held at NSU

The Grand finale of 'Social Camp 2012' organised by North South University Social Services Club (NSUSSC) was held at North South University (NSU) on November 26, 2012. The competition was based on idea generation to solve social problems in Bangladesh through creating awareness. The problem for the grand finale was 'maternal and infant mortality'. 130 teams from different universities around the country participated in the competition from which five teams got into the finale. Team 'Red Hot Corporate Papers' from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, became the champions in while 'Team Zeal' from NSU and Team 'M O R T' from IBA-DU became the 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.


'Graduation Ceremony-12' at NUB

Department of Law, Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) arranged a 'Graduation Ceremony-12' for the graduating students of the 18th batch on November 29, 2012. Professor Dr M Shamsul Haque, Vice-Chancellor, NUB was the chief guest in the discussion programme. Professor Dr A W M Abdul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Law, chaired the programme. A grand cultural programme was also arranged.


Seminar on 'Alternative Justice Delivery System' at SEU

Department of Law and Justice of Southeast University organised a seminar on 'Alternative Justice Delivery System' on November 24, 2012. ASSM Zahirul Haque, Secretary, Ministry of the Law and Justice, Goverment of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest in the seminar. KM Rasheduzzaman Raja, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Law, Jutice and Parliamentary Affairs was the keynote presenter and Professor Dr Maimul Ahsan Khan, Department of Law, University of Dhaka was the chief discussant.


Seminar

On November 27, 2012 University of Asia Pacific (UAP) arranged Certificate Awarding Ceremony to recognise the outstanding academic performances of the students placed in Vice Chancellor's and Dean's merit list in spring semester 2012. Vice Chancellor of UAP, Professor Dr Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Acting Chairperson of UAP Board of Trustees, Abdul Mohin Chowdhury, Acting Registrar, Shahriyar Anam, Acting Treasurer, Professor Dr Md Sekendar Ali and the heads of the departments were present. A total of 342 students from eight departments of UAP received certificates, among them 142 were awarded the Vice Chancellor's Merit List certificates and 200 were awarded the Dean's Merit List certificates.
