Turtlenecks- Of Comfort and Class

The other day I brought a black trench coat. After going through a reasonable amount of 'khoj-the search' process, I got the one having each and every feature that I hoped for amidst the unruly chilling spell that was going on for days. After scratching my money bag really harsh, I managed to store the dreamy knee-length trench coat inside my closet. Then guess what happened next? The very next morning, the sun rose with all its splendour and it was a comparatively bright sunny day with little cold breeze and I had no reason to put on the coat.

Now is a time when you need to be prepared to fight a biting cold without looking like a zombie with layers of warm clothes draped on. During this second phase of winter, you should be extra careful and not forget to cover especially your neck, to avoid catching an annoying cold. For a comfy and fashionable look, turtleneck sweaters (a sweater with a close-fitting, round, and high collar that folds over and covers the neck) can be your saviour!

Turtlenecks can be found both in forms of sweaters and tee shirts. To grab some within Taka 150-300, take a tour of Bongobazar, New Market, Doja or Mouchak Market. Many shops at Bashundhara City Shopping mall and Elephant Road also cater turtle necks at similar rates. If you have a knack for brands and are willing to spend a bit more, then stores like Big Boss, Tanjim and Rex can be your places. These are more fine in quality and starts from taka 300 and can go up to taka 2000.

Pair your turtleneck sweater with jeans, jeggings or formal pants for a fresh look. Girls can enjoy a classy appearance by wearing a sleeveless turtleneck. Match it well with a knee-length cardigan, the kind that is extremely 'in' these days. Blend a turtleneck tee shirt under a blazer for a comfortable, yet professional appearance if you have a presentation to give at university. You can layer your turtle neck piece underneath trench coats or wool overcoats as well.

Be vibrant in a pink, red or sea blue turtleneck top and carry a black sweater or jacket, because black goes with everything and adds balance to an appearance. For boys, green, grey, maroon are suitable colours. Turtle neck jumpers will not only protect you from the brisk winter air but will also give you a sporty look.

So make sure your wardrobe is not devoid of this beautiful piece of garment and perk up your attire with the charm of a turtleneck!
