Life in the Hills

Syed Zakir Hossain

With 13 ethnic groups that speak 10 languages, the Chittagong Hill Tracts, offers peace and tranquillity to tourists. Life there follows a pattern, devoid of the so-called modernity that has infested our daily life in the plains. The paths here are treacherous, but its inhabitants are as simple and beautiful as the nature they are surrounded by. The pahari cowboy who every morning takes his buffalo to graze or the mother who sells jackfruit at the nearby bazaar epitomises the indomitable spirit of the human soul.
