Jannat Ara Henry has gained a lot of popularity as a Rabindra Sangit singer in the cultural arena through her own effort. She is also a social worker who has done much for the area.

Her single video album of Rabindra Sangit titled Jodi Jantem has been like by hundreds of Rabindra Sangit fans. Some more new albums being performed by Henry are coming up in the market shortly she said.

36-year-old Henry is from Sirajganj. Jamuna River basin Sadanandapur village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila is her birthplace. She earned her graduation from Haji Korop Ali Degree College in Kamarkhanda upazila of the district and her Masters from Korotia Saa'dat University College in Tangail district.

She started her musical journey as a student. Her father Abdul Hamid Mian, a local schoolteacher was her first music teacher. Ustad Babu Raton Lal Sutradhar taught her Rabindra Sangit. She took music lessons Udichi Shilpa Gosthy Sirajganj district unit during her college life. Besides, she also took lesson on music several times from late Wahedul Haque, founder of Chhayanot, Ostad Babu Nil Utpal Sadhyo, Lily Islam and Sazid Akbar.

Henry is now a regular Rabindra Sangit singer of Bangladesh Television (BTV), Bangladesh Betar and several satellite TV channels.

Soundtek, a renowned music producer and distributor of the country presented her music video album "Jodi Jantem" that has achieved much popularity in the country and abroad.

Henry, wife of Labu Talukdar in Sirajganj town is involved in different organisations and has now been working on social development for some time.

At present, she is joint secretary of Sirajganj Zilla Shilpakola Academy, Secretarial Member of Jatiya Rabindra Sangit Sammelon Parishad, executive member of Udichi Shilpa Gosthy, executive member of Red Crescent Society, convener of Projonma Ekkattor Sirajganj unit, executive member of Sushasoner Jonnyo Nagorik (Sujon) Sirajganj unit, assistant commissioner of Sirajganj District Scout, executive member of Bangal (an organisation of local poets), in-charge of Girl in Scouts Sirajganj district unit, president of Gozaria Mohila Kollyan Sangstha and executive member of Rotonkandi Union Parishad People Organisation. She is also an assistant teacher of Sobuj Kanon High School in the town.

While talking to this correspondent Henry said that, her father in law late Motahar Hossain Talukder, former president of Sirajganj district Awami League inspired her to make herself as a popular Rabindra Sangit singer. With his wish, she is now grabbed a greater place in the mind of music lover people, she said.

“If god wants, I shall establish a music school in Sirajganj town where many children would be learnt music freely, Henry said.”
