Baatighar: Captivating Booklovers
Batighar is a famous book store in Chittagong. The interior of this 1,642 square feet shop can has been designed to look like a ship. The wooden wheel, the small round windows, wooden floor and ceiling- all resemble the inside of a ship. There's a book shelf shaped like a light house surrounded by rocks. It has separate corners for eight different publishers. There are also separate sections for kids, teenagers, film, music, tabloids and magazines. There's a small café inside the store. The interior is designed by Shahinur Rahman, a graduate from the Fine Arts Department, Chittagong University. It is not merely a store where you go to buy books, it is also a place for book lovers to gather and have a good time. The owner of this place, Dipankar Das, started this venture in 2005. Before this, he was largely involved with the Bishwa Shahitya Kendra.
