Certificate Distribution Ceremony at Northern University

The Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the training "Partners in Learning" program jointly organized by Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) and Microsoft Bangladesh Ltd. with reorganization and permission of the Ministry of Education was held on September 23, 2006 at the BIAM Auditorium, Dhaka. Mr. Carter W Wilbur, Representative of US Embassy was present on the occasion as Chief Guest while Prof Dr M Shamsul Haque, Chairperson of IBAT Trust, the sponsoring body of Northern University Bangladesh presided over the ceremony. Professor Dr Syed Rashidul Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor of National University, Mr Md Jalal Ahmed Khan, IT Advisor, Microsoft Bangladesh, M Abu Bakar Siddique, Treasurer and Acting VC of NUB, Professor Dr Nurul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science, NUB spoke on the occasion.

Mr Carter W Wilbur in his speech said that information technology is the best means of power to eliminate poverty. He said that ICT education is urgently needed to promote all sectors of the country. He said that the teachers as well as the students will be benefited from the training and it will help to create an information technology based new generation in the country. He added that about ten thousand teachers will be given training under this collaborate Training Program across the country.

Mr Abu Bakar Siddique, Treasurer and Acting VC of NUB urged the teachers to emphasis on ICT education and share the ideas gathered from the training to the students.

Prof Dr M Shamsul Haque, Chairperson of IBAT Trust hoped that this program would be expanded to the village level school and colleges so that the rural students will get the benefit of information technology.
