Twinning arrangement between ICMAB & CIMA (UK)
A three-member team headed by Prof Roland Kaye, immediate Past President of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) of UK visited the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) on September 18 & 19, 2006 for assessing the needs in order to elevate ICMAB's professional standard to CIMA and global level under a World Bank financed project titled “Strengthening Accounting and Auditing Standards and Practices in the Corporate Sector.” Ministry of Commerce is the Executing Agency of the Project and ICMAB, an institute under the Ministry of Commerce is the beneficiary of the project. CIMA (UK) will assist ICMAB in developing its capacity in order to function as a world class management accounting professional body. The other members of the team were Mrs Kathy Grimshaw, Director, International Development, CIMA and Ms Beth Dowle, Project Specialist, International Development, CIMA.
The CIMA team held a series of meeting with the Council Members of ICMAB.
A joint meeting was also held between the CIMA (UK) team, ICMAB delegates, representatives of World Bank and Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh. The CIMA (UK) team also met the Faculty members of ICMA Bangladesh, Education Committee, Syllabus Sub-Committee and Examination Committee members as well as senior executives of the Institute. The team also visited the Library and Coaching Class of the Institute and observed the library and coaching system.
Prof Roland Kaye, Past President, CIMA made a presentation on CIMA (UK) activities before the members and students of the Institute. Members and students of the Institute actively participated in the question-answer session. The CIMA team has returned to UK and they will come up within one month with concrete proposal for implementation of the project.
Once the project is completed ICMAB will be able to run its programme at a high standard and its members will always remain updated to maintain their highest level of professional standard around the globe.
