Houseful ............ but not hit

The whole room is buzzing, fully crowded; all eyes are glued to the screen, watching with great concentration what is happening on the screen ...

Well, what are you thinking dear readers? Am I talking about a movie theater? No, it's the computer lab of the Finance Department. This lab provides us with splendid assistance in our course work. Whenever our teachers ask us to accomplish our assignments, whenever the students need to go through the latest information from the web or need to do any 'bookish work', they go to this lab. This lab has a major contribution to the path of development of a student.

But when you enter this lab, you'll see seats are occupied by the users. If you want to complete your PC work in the lab, you'll see each PC is always busy. That's why the lab is always 'Houseful', but is it really 'Hit' to the students? Faisal of Finance 10th batch is kind of fade up and said, “Oh, the net connection is not available most of the time, all of the computers do not work, no mouse, no net connection when it is needed. Let's throw the instrument of the lab into the river “Buriganga”. Another student of Finance 11th batch Rahi is not desperate and has this to say, “The lab is good, but we need more computers and uninterrupted connection”.

The real scenario is very severe. We have 36 PCs, but of them only 27 are running well at the moment. Net connection is lost at least 2 times a month and when it is lost, we can't hope that it will return in less than 3-4 days. According to the lab assistant the rate of failure of our computers is much higher than computers of other departments. The main reason underlying this is the heavy use of these machines. While the computers of Marketing Department are used in scheduled time and for 2 hours for every student in one day, in our case anyone can enter the lab anytime and can use computers as long as he/she wishes.

Therefore, we need another lab which could be set up in the newly constructed MBA building. At least we need some new computers for the lab. It's encouraging to know that recently 22 new computers are coming. But is this enough to solve the problem?

Nobody would want to believe that there is any financial lacking in the finance department. Though there are PCs in the home of the students, though there are cyber cafes in the city, we still need various assistances from the lab of the department. If the administration takes the matter cordially and takes quick steps to solve the problems, only then our students will be greatly benefited by this lab.
