Two orientation programmes held at Daffodil International University

Faculty of Science and Technology
The orientation programme of the faculty of Science and Technology of Daffodil International University (DIU) was held recently. A total of 227 new students were welcomed at the gala event.

Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU presided over the programme. Prof. M. Shahjahan Mia, Pro VC DIU, Dr. M Lutfar Rahman, Dean of Science and Technology and others spoke at the event. The Pro VC Prof. M. Shahjahan Mia described the curriculum of DIU to the students. In his speech he explained about the courses, the fees, the exam process and hoped for the very best of the students.

Faculty of business & Economics
The orientation program for the newly enrolled undergraduate students of faculty of Business and Economics for Fall 2006 semester of Daffodil International University was held on 5 October, 2006 at DIU Business Campus. A total of 206 students have enrolled in this semester in DIU.

Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, Vice Chancellor welcomed the students and introduced DIU faculty members and officers. Congratulating the students, Professor Islam said that three major things-discipline, honesty and quality make life successful. Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of faculty of Business and Economics, DIU Professor Shahjahan Mina, also welcomed the students and said from his experience that Daffodil and some other private universities are doing well in all respects. Commitment, transparency and quality made the universities renowned. DIU provides its students best available resources to pursue their studies and hone their skills, he added.

DIU wins IHEW Foundation-EFA Debate Festival'06
Daffodil International University Debating Club (DIUDC) won the IHEW Foundation-EFA Debate Festival'06. The event was held at the Nazrul Institute from September 17 to 25. Some of the leading universities including North South University, Dhaka University, Daffodil international University, Stamford University, Northern University participated in the event

DIUDC and Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) faced each other in the final. The topic of the final was "Uniform grading system will bring more failure than success".

The prize giving ceremony was held on September 25. Chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. M. Moniruzzaman, Ex Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka.

The team members of Daffodil International University were Md. Safayet Hossain, Ziaul Haque Sumon and Kawser Ahmed Ornab.

Cultural and Sports club of School of Business Administration of People's University of Bangladesh organized a freshers receiption-2006 on 7th October, 2006. The program was presided over by Prof Dr Md Aslam Bhuiyan, while Chief Guest was eminent journalist ABM Musa and Special Guest was Prof Dr Kazi Nurul Islam, Dept. of World Religions, University of Dhaka.

Among others Chairman of the School of Business Administration Dr Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Chairman, Dept. of Islamic Studies and Culture Mahmudul Hassan, Tahura Pervin, Sabrina Jahan and MBA student Gazi Kabir spoke on this occasion.

A seminar on "Holly Ramjan and Equitable Distribution" was also held. It was followed by Iftar party.
