Seminar on Convergent Media at Eastern University

A Seminar on "Convergent Media: The Impact of New Media Technology on Society" organized by Eastern University was held recently in the auditorium of Russian Cultural Central. Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, former Minister for Science, Information and Communication Technology was Chief Guest while Mr. Saiful Bari, Advisor, ATN Bangla, and Mr Abul Quasem Haider, Chairman, Eastern University Foundation were special guests.

Dr Sirajul, Bhuiyan, Professor and Director, Mass Communications and Journalism, Lincoln University, USA, now a visiting Professor, Faculty of business administration, Eastern University presented the keynote paper. Mr Gias Kamal Chowdhury, Editor, Daily Khobor Patra, Prof Dr Golam Rahman, Professor, Department of Mass Communication and Jornalism, University of Dhaka, Mr Amanullah Kabir, Editor, Amardesh and Prof Dr Sakhawat Ali Khan, Dean, School of Social Science and Head of the Department, Media Studies and Journalism, University of liberal Arts, Bangladesh, (ULAB) were the discussants in the seminar.

The seminar concluded with the presidential address of Prof Dr Rahim B Talukdar, Vice Channcellor, Eastern University.

Eastern University team wins first prize in Soft Fair 2006
The Computer Science team of Eastern University won the first prize in the 7th Soft Fair organized by North South University Computer Club. The fair took place at Bashundhara City from August 03 to August 05, 2006. The EU team presented the project "Microcomputer Operations Demo Kit". The kit demonstrates visually the internal structures of a computer, operations of different components of a computer along with their time sequence. The kit has been designed and developed to aid both teachers/students to teach/study computer science courses like Computer Fundamentals, Microcomputer and Assembly Language, Computer Organization and Architecture, and Microprocessor and I/O.
The project was initiated and guided by Muhammad Abdul Halim Shaikh, Prof and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of EU and was developed by EU students Mr Md Anowar Hossain, Ms Jannatual Ferdous, and Mr Iftekhar Mohammad Khondoker of the Department of CSE.

DIU and BRAC Bank Limited sign memorandum of understanding
Daffodil International University and BRAC Bank Limited signed an agreement entitled Memorandum of Understanding on Sunday at D I U Seminar Hall.

Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, Vice Chancellor, DIU, Professor M. Shahjahan Mina, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Registrar, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Science and IT, Mr. Mominul Haque Mojumder, Deputy Director (F&A), Mr. Emran Hussain, Assistant Director (F&A), Daffodil International University and Head of Corporate Banking Mr. Khwaja Shahriar, Head of External Affairs Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Siddique, Mr. Ishtiaque Hussain, Mr. Md. Tarek Uz Zaman were present on the signing ceremony.

Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Governors, DIU and Mr. Imran Rahman, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, BRAC Bank Limited signed the agreement. As per agreement, students of Daffodil International University will pay their tuition fee at BRAC Bank.
