" The Devil's Triangle"

Shams Arefeen

There are a few things in the world that have no explanations. Perhaps the Devil's Triangle is one of them. Yes, I'm talking about the unexplainable Bermuda Triangle.

I had the opportunity to visit Florida and Miami beaches during my last summer vacation. I wished I could know more about the Bermuda Triangle. But after visiting Florida and Miami in July,2005, I realized that this dream is extremely difficult to come true because of limitations and complications for the tourists.

During the past century more than 50 ships and 20 aircrafts sailed into oblivion in this remarkable area called Bermuda Triangle..

The Bermuda Triangle is an imaginary area located off the southeastern Atlantic Coast of the United States, noted for a high incidence of unexplained losses of ships small boats and aircraft. The vertices of the triangle are accepted to be Bermuda, Miami and San Juan Puerto Rico.

Countless theories attempting to explain the disappearances have been offered throughout history. The majority of disappearances can be attributed to the area's unique environmental features . First, the " Devil's Triangle" is one of the two places on earth where a magnetic compass points towards the north PERPENDICULARLY ! Normally it points towards magnetic north. The difference between the two is known as compass variation. The amount of variation changes by as much as 20 0 as one circum navigates the earth. If this compass variation is not compensated a navigator could find himself far off course and in deep trouble.

Another environmental factor is the character of gulf and stream. It is hazardously swift and turbulent and can quickly erase any evidence of a disaster.

Human errors are also worth mentioning here. A large number of boats travel the waters between Florida's Gold coast and the Bahamas despite knowing the past records of this devilish place.

Expert knowledge reveals that the size of this area ranges from 500,000 to 1,500,000 square miles. In this enormous space, one may wonder what's the mystery inside ?

Whatever the size or shape, there supposedly is some inexplicable force within that causes ships and aircraft to vanish instantaneously.

I learned from TV channels that whenever Scientists went to explore there they saw nothing unusual.

There have been unusual sagas of many ships and aircraft but nobody has a clue or evidence of any objects found in that 1.5 million square miles. It's as calm as a cucumber.

Many scientists refuse to talk to anyone concerning the devil's triangle simply because they do not want their name associated with phenomena that they consider ridiculous.

These are few things that compel us to know more about this demonic place .Scientists have been unable to discover any maps that describe the boundaries of the Bermuda Triangle.

Mysteries associated with the sea are plentiful in the history of mankind. The triangle happens to be one of the most heavily traveled regions in the world and the greater the number of ships or planes passing through this region, the greater the odds that something happens though the routes of aircraft and ships have been changed drastically in the recent years.

So you may have a relaxing holiday at the picturesque beaches of Miami or Florida , as I had with my parents, but do not bother to pass through the Devil's Triangle after reading this article. Don't try to station extra watches to keep a wary eye out for giant squids. Better to sit and relax at home and know about these ridiculous places on TV channels just like me !
