UAP's Department of Civil Engineering is first to get
BAETE accreditation

The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) of The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) celebrated becoming the first Civil Engineering programme in the country to get the Award of Accrediation Certificate by the Board of Accreditation of Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE). Chairman of BAETE Prof. Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury attended the ceremony as the chief guest while Vice Chancellor of BURT Prof. Dr. AMM Safiullah and Acting Chairman of the UAP Board of Governors Mr. AA Moniruzzaman were present as special guests. UAP Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Matin Patwari presided over the ceremony.


Futureshorts @ ULAB on the 17th

The Film Club of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) proudly presents a short film festival featuring Future Shorts, the largest short film network in the world! The show will include 15 of the world's most renowned short films followed by live acoustic concert featuring some of the greatest international hits! The festival will start at 12 PM on 17th November, 2007 at the ULAB Auditorium in the Dhanmondi Satmosjid Road Campus.


Southeast University celebrates Separation of Judiciary

The Department of Law and Justice of Southeast University brought out a rally on November 01 to celebrate Separation of the Judiciary. The slogan of the event was: “Separation of Judiciary will Secure People's Right.”


British Film Festival at the British Council

The British Council announces British Film Festival starting on 12 November 2007 at British Council Auditorium, 5 Fuller Road, Dhaka. This year, the selections consist of 9 award winning, critically acclaimed and audience choices films. From Helen Mirren's award winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II to Jane Austen's story of becoming a romantic writer to Rowan Atkinson, famously known as Mr Bean, playing a silly secret agent this year's films are rich with amazing story-line, incredible direction and picturesque cinematography. We have also included a family-film for parents to bring their children and enjoy it thoroughly.

The selected titles are:

AIUB celebrates 12 eventful years



AIUB celebrated 12 years of proud existence in Bangladesh by cutting cake. UGC Chairman Prof. Nazrul Islam, AIUB VC Dr. Carman Z. Lamagna, AIUB Chairman Dr. Anwarul Abedin and Mrs. Nadia Anwar were present on the occasion.


Series of Seminar at DBA, JU


Series of seminar on “Contemporary Issues in Business” was held at the Department of Business Administration (DBA) Jahangirnagar University on 3rd and 4th November. Fifteen students of MBA 10th batch presented fifteen Seminar/Research papers as an essential requirement of their MBA program. The issues covered were mainly about capital structure, finance research, balanced scorecard, foreign remittance, portfolio management, financial aspects of monga, share price, mutual funds, Basal II, entrepreneurial credit, leasing, sector advance, loan classification, floating exchange rate and IPO. Two sessions were chaired by
Professor Dr. S.M. Ikhtiar Alam, DBA, JU and Professor Anu Muhammad, Department of Economics, JU.


International Seminar held at RU

History department of Rajshahi University (RU) arranged a two-day long International seminar on Friday and Saturday. It was on the "Occasion of 150th anniversary of the great revolt of 1857(Sepahi Biddroho)". The seminar was held at the Dean's complex of RU with department chairman Prof. M. Shafi in the chair. Prof. M. Nazrul Islam, chairman of The University Grants Commission (UGC) attended the seminar as the chief guest while RU Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Altaf Hossain and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. M.Mamnunul Keramot were special guests.

From different Universities of India Prof. Ranjit Das, Prof. Chittraboto Palito, Dr. Kobori Mitra, Dr. Keka Dotto Roy, Prof. Boloy Chandra Boroy, Dr. Tanvir Nasrin, Dr. Rupossry Chattargy, Prof. Gaotam Bisu, Prof. Anando Bhattacharjo, Prof. M. Khairul Alam were presented at the seminar. Teachers of Jagannath University, Jahangirnagar University and History department of Rajshahi University were also present there.

CST introduced in Rajshahi University

Md. Mamun Abdul Kaioum

A 4- year graduate (Honours) degree course on Crop Science and Technology (CST) was introduced in Rajshahi University (RU) from current session as a new department. From this session (2007-08), 1st year BSc(Ag.) primary activities for admission has also started. Besides the 4years Ag.(Honours)degree, the CST department will also provide M.Sc, M.Phill and Phd. degree.
