Sabiha's 'Kaleidoscope':
A Compilation

Rafikul Islam

THE first book of a 17-year old writer Sabiha Mahmud Sumi, a Bangladeshi student of grade 12 at Kodaikanal International School (KIS) of India's Tamil Nadu state, and the only daughter to Sohel Mahmud Sagar. The book 'Kaleidoscope' is a compilation of her published articles on history, literature, female status in the society, her school and school life, poverty, finance including microfinance, her birthplace Dhaka, ecology, tourism, environment etc.

The book stands as an inspiration for the young generations today. It stands as an ideal, sharing knowledge and imparting ideas that one can learn from. There is only so much a person can do for this world, our world. We own this revolving globe; on which we walk upon every day of our lives. It is up to us to decide how we want this world to be and where to take it in the future. The key, the secret is in your hands, our hands, and together we must overcome all problems to make it last. We owe it to the generations ahead.

The book stands as an inspiration for parents and for young children out there who need a diverse source of light to look upon. The book stands amidst us today to bring upon a priceless gift that The Almighty God has handed over to us, and that is knowledge. It is the key to all success.

"A colourful kaleidoscopic could be one illustration of my life, hence, the name of the book 'Kaleidoscope'”, says Sumi, the author of the book. 'Kaleidoscope: A Compilation' tells us about the life that is gifted to humans. The author earnestly draws our attention that this preservation, a mere choice, is the key identity for a being.

The book helps our children in getting inspiration to hang onto the branches of the vast world. It is a must read to make people realise the changes in the world and help create awareness that is needed in the world today. This book lets a reader ponder upon the thought of having a child, the steps that are to be taken after the child is born and how to bring up that child. This is an aspect that is reminded repeatedly in the book. We do not know what this future has in store for us, but with our parent's dedication and perseverance, at times, makes all of this possible. Md. Sohel Mahmud Sagar, Executive Vice President of ASA has published this book in Dhaka.
