Dainik PurbokoneKBC National College Debate Contest
Cider steals the show

CIDER International School & College became Champion and Chittagong Govermment Commerce College became runner up in the Dainik PurbokoneKBC National College Debate Contest in the port City Chittagong.

Sadia Binte Shafique, a student of Commerce College was selected as the best orator while Joya Chowdhury was selected as the best debater of the year.

The inaugural ceremony started with the singing of the national anthem followed by colourful dancing of youngsters on the theme of independence. The guests at the ceremony includes Chittagong Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President M A Salam and Chittagong Government Commerce College Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali. Drishty Chittagong General Secretary Saif Chy and Secretary of Debate Affairs Afsana Toma spoke on the occasion.

Drishty Chittagong president Masud Bakul Presided over the concluding ceremony while Purbokone Managing Director Jasim Uddin Chowdhury attended as the Chief guest. On the occasion, Dainik Shuprabhat Bangladesh City Editor M. Nasirul Hoque, noted banker & cultural personality Md Rosangir and Major (Rtd.) Shams addressed the function.

Speakers said that debating is a method through which young learners can enhance their treasury of knowledge. As such, they stressed on the need for gathering Knowledge about society and culture through participating in debating competitions besides regular studies.

The champion team Cider International School & College included Priom Das, Intaser Alam and Shafkat Fahmid, while the Chittagong Government Commerce College team consisted of Ehteshamul Islam, Sadia Binte Shafique and Gazi Muyidur Rahman.

The contest was participated by 24 teams from across the country. The list of participants includes Cider International School & College, Chittagong Government Commerce College, Chittagong College, Hazi Md. Mohsin College, Government City College, Government Girls' Women College, Chittagong University College, B A F Shaheen College, Government Collegiate College, B N College, Ispahani Public School & College, Cantonment Public School & College, Chittagong Sunshine College, Hathazari College, Cox's Bazar Government College, Laxmipur Government College, Laxmipur Ideal College, Jarina Moffazal College, Jiaur Rahman College. The media partners were The Financial Express along with Star Campus of The Daily Star.
