QUBEE IT FAIR 2009 at NSU

THE closing ceremony of QUBEE NSU IT FAIR 2009 held at North South University (NSU) on 15 December 2009. M. A. Kashem, Chairman, NSU Foundation was present as Chief Guest at the closing ceremony and Dr. S. A. M. Khairul Bashar, Pro Vice Chancellor, NSU chaired the session. Dr. Abul L. Haque, Dean, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Proctor Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, K. Shajadul Hasan, Faculty Advisor and Mahmudul Hasan Robin, President, NSU Computer Club also spoke on the occasion. On 13 December, Vice Chancellor Dr. Hafiz G.A. Siddiqi inaugurated the IT Fair. The renowned software and hardware firms of the country participated in this three days long exhibition.

In his speech, the Chief Guest M. A. Kashem appreciated the attempt from NSUCC for organizing such an event. He also told the club members to organize more innovative and multidimensional events.

In his speech, Session Chair Dr. S. A. M. Khairul Bashar said that corporate world should stand by the students to cherish their talents and encourage them. Special Guest Dr. Abul L. Haque mentioned the success of NSU Students.

After the ceremony the guests presented the crests to the participants of the fair. After all this, the president of the club promised all the guests and the participants to present more innovative and successful events in future. The QUBEE NSU IT Fair started on 13 December at North South University Campus and ended on 15 December with great success. The title sponsor of the event was QUBEE, the other sponsors were Acer and Apple. Through out the exhibition visitors appreciated the attempt of the club and enjoyed the exhibition very much. In the closing ceremony, representatives were presents from QUBEE, Acer Apple, Bangla Technologies along with other participants of NSU IT Fair 2009.

Faculty delegation from Stanford University of USA visits IUB

A delegation of four faculty members of Stanford University of USA visited Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) from 16 December to 19 December 2009. The delegation comprised of Dr. Michelle Barry, Dean, Global Health; Dr Ralph Horwitz, Chairman, Department of Medicine; Dr Mark Cullen, Prof. of Medicine; and Ms Minjung Kwok, Vice Chair of Strategy, Department of Medicine, Stanford University. The honorable guests made a courtesy call on Prof. Bazlul Mobin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of IUB on 17th December. During their stay in IUB they explored the possibilities of research and exchange of students between Stanford University and Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). The team accompanied by the Pro VC of IUB Prof. Omar Rahman also visited Manikganj Field Site of Open Source Data Project on 18th December.
