English Course at British Council-
My Experience
Anurata Prabha Hridi
AFTER finishing my SSC examination I wanted to spend my two-month long vacation meaningfully. So, I chose to do short courses in swimming and tennis. Since I have working parents, it is really tough to manage a mutual timing for going out. My father suggested that I should enroll myself in a special course for SSC examinees in British Council teaching centre. I was a member of Young Learners' Centre (YLC) at the British Council when I was a kid, so I thought that it would be fun to get associated with this fantastic organisation again.
But I never thought that it would turn out to be such a great experience for me. After the placement test, I was put in the Upper Intermediate category and was handed with the schedule for my classes.
On the first day, I was really excited when I entered our well-furnished classroom and noticed other curious girls and boys like me. Our teacher, Sai Kit Lee (we were asked to call him Sai only) entered at 9 am and kept all 20 students warmed up till the end. We had 16 classes overall with a duration of 2 hours each. We followed Oxford prescribed Headway series books and did a lot of interactions, and thus enjoyed the whole period. Sai is really a great person with a friendly attitude and he knows exactly how to maintain a good relationship between the teacher and his students. Honestly, he is one of the best teachers I have ever met. And all those people I made friends with are simply awesome. Our course was backed by the opportunities provided to go through books and browse Internet in order to gear us up for future prospect.
I really loved the whole environment there. The classes helped me to reshape my outlook towards realistic education. I am definitely looking forward to doing more activities with the British Council.
