Funtime at Sunshine Grammar School

Sunshine Grammar School and College says goodbye to its present campus amidst fun and frolic, enthusiasm and nostalgia. The campus that housed Sunshine for years has been the academic hub for many talents now marking their wise footsteps home and abroad. The shift of campus is to accommodate the ever-increasing number of students interested to study in the best English medium school of the port city at the same time to provide the students with state of the art technology support. This year end bonanza of Sunshine consisted of so many diverse performances that no one could ever manage to get bored Science Fair, Business Presentation, Art Exhibition, Cultural Show, drama everything at the same time at the same campus.

On May 15, Saturday Managing Editor of the Daily Purbokon, Mr. Jashim Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the programme. The first presentation was of the A- Level students of Business Department on the he topic 'influence of government's macro-economic policy on business'. On the other hand, class VIII and IX student set up a mock bank with all the activities that can be done in a bank. They also presented the process that an industry has to follow from collecting raw material to the production of finished goods. The most attractive part of the commerce department presentation was SWOT analysis on renowned franchises like KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonalds.

Science Fair was inaugurated by Professor Dr. S. M. Tareque, Chairman, Chittagong Club Limited. Chemistry Department showed the process of making soap, water purification, salt test, cosmetic test, alcohol preparation, electrolysis, green fire, fat analysis, making mosquito repellant from mushroom and many more fun projects. Producing electricity by wind turbine, and construction and use of transformer were among the projects of Physics department. A young scientist of Sunshine made everyone astonished when he showed that a pebble does not sink in a jar of water even when he released it completely. The projects of biology department drew everyone's attention as they showed the dangerous effect of climate change on our earth through clay work in realistic colour. On the other hand the Department of Mathematics of Sunshine Grammar School and College did a very enjoyable magic math project. Guests were found astounded when young Sunshiners logically proved seemingly unrealistic things like 2 + 2 = 5.

The exposition of Sunshine Bangla Department was a bit different. Students presented the history and culture of Bangladesh that they learned from their Bangla Book, through clay work and drawing. A whole wall is painted with the work of Rabindranath and Nazrul as well as their biographies and photos. On the other hand the Department of English made an enjoyable staging of Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice. Sunshine Art Department arranged an art exhibition of totally different genre. Here, students used different media to represent the theme of this year's end of session festival fun and frolic.

While the whole campus was vibrating with fun, in the Multimedia room, some enthusiasts enjoyed presentation on astronomy, business plan, bio-diversity and many other graphic presentations in pin drop silence. During this daylong festival, not a single moment was spared without activity. Whenever any one got a little tired walking on the aisles of stalls and listening to the explanation of complex scientific theories went to the auditorium and indulged in soothing music. As we are in the months of the birth anniversaries of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, the activities of the cultural show pivoted around them.

Apart from these a huge food court was another attraction of the 'fun and frolic' that provided cuisines in a number of variety traditional, indigenous, Moglai, Chinese, continental, fresh fruit juice whenever any visitor got hungry or thirsty made a brief stop at our gourmet art department and left with a happy smile.

This fun and frolic celebration of Sunshine Grammar School and College drew a huge crowd. Despite the unbearable May heat, people did show up at the Sunshine Campus from dawn to dusk and enjoyed every bit of it.
