National seminar on Electronics and Telecommunications

BANGLADESH Electronics Society organized a two-day national conference titled “National Seminar on Electronics & Telecommunications for Digital Bangladesh" from 2-3 June at Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka. Yafesh Osman, Minister of MOSICT was present in the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. A.M.M.Safiullah, Vice Chancellor of BUET and Dr. Md. Mosharrf Hossain, Chairman of BAEC were present as the Special Guests. Prof. Farruk Ahmed, President, Bangladesh Electronics Society presided over the programme.

A total of 65 papers were presented covering the areas of electronics, telecommunication and computer networks, instrumentation, control systems, materials science and nanotechnology. The whole programme was arranged in six technical sessions. The discussion was about the issue and challenges of alternate energy sources, ICT education and implementation of digital Bangladesh.

The event was aimed to improve the ICT sector in line with the present government's vision of 2021 and all the participating scientists and engineers got the opportunity to exchange their ideas on the recent trend for the development of digital Bangladesh.

 

Open Advertising Competition-at Southern University

A two-day long advertising competition was held on May 31 and June 1, 2010 at the conference hall of Southern University, Chittagong. The Department of Business Admin organised the event, where eight teams namely Green, Reflex, Ad Teaser, Explorer, The Speed, Dream, F.B.S., and Master Mind contested the event. The participating teams exhibited their ads, made for print and electronic media and billboard hoarding. In the competition, Ad Teaser clinched the championship, while F.B.S. and Speed stood 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively. In the opening day, Founder Sarwar Jahan was the Chief Guest, while Abu Nayeem Mahtab Morshed, Director of Geonix, Debasis Roy Adviser of Chittagong Film Center, Rezwan Razan, Media Consultant of Hifs Media Management were present as the Special Guests. Abu Nayeem Mahtab Morshed advised the students to delve into the performing arts along with their academic studies in order to be a successful Ad maker. Debasis Roy emphasized on commitment and professionalism for a successful media career. In the closing session, Professor Mohammad Ali, Vice-Chancellor graced the session as the Chief Guest. He urged the young Ad makers to abide by the “Code of Ethics” and refrain themselves from making “Yellow Advertisement”.

 

1st BRACU Inter-University youth Festival

The first BRACU Inter-University Youth Festival will be held on 16th and 17th of June. The event will host 20 pubic and private universities in singing, freehand sketching and public speaking. The Vice Chancellor of BRAC University Dr. Ainun Nishat will grace the Inaugural Ceremony as the Chief Guest. Approximately 300 participants from the invited universities will be competing for this event. Prominent personalities from the media including singers and dancers amongst other artistes will be present as judges and visitors at the festival. The whole event will be divided into two days with the events being divided over the period. Star Campus will also be one of the media partners of the event.
