24th Convocation of Islamic University of Technology (IUT)

Abdullah-Al-Faisal

IT was a cloudy November morning but IUT campus was already buzzing with activity from the early hours. The convocation day was finally here. We, the graduates, had to be seated by 8:45 am. All 230 graduating students were ready in their green gowns and hats. The ceremony began soon as the chief guest, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took her seat. Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Hossain, Vice- Chancellor of IUT, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by a message from the Chancellor of IUT, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, which was read by his representative, Mr. Abdul Moiz Bokhari, Assistant Secretary General of OIC. And last but not the least,Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave her valuable speech. Her motivating speech inspired all of us for working for the country and Muslim Ummah.

Departing students from all four departments (ITS, MCE, EEE & CIT) took their place and were declared graduates by the Vice Chancellor. Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina gave away OIC Gold medal, the most prestigious award of IUT, to Mohammad Monjurul Ehsan of MCE, SM Masudur Rahman Al-Arif of EEE, Abid Hasan of CIT and Khan Mohammad Foysal of ITS department.

Upon receiving certificates, celebrations began as hats were tossed up amid cheers and claps. Cameras clicked away. It was a festive look inside IUT.

The best was yet to come. The tradition of convocation dinner was eagerly welcomed. Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Hossain wished us success.
