Anti-Tobacco Poster Competition at Daffodil International University

Daffodil International University (DIU) organised an Anti Tobacco Poster Competition in observance of World Tobacco Free Day-2011 at the DIU Auditorium. Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor inaugurated the poster competition as the chief guest while Dr M Golam Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Science was present as the special guest. Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Coordinator, Career Development Centre (CDC) and Ejajur Rahman Sajal, President, Prothom Alo Bandhushava were also present during the inaugural ceremony. Around 15 posters of students from different departments participated in the competition. The final result was declared and winners were awarded on May 31, 2011.
Training programme at BAU
A month long training programme on 'Advance Course on Communicative English' concluded at the Language Lab of the Department of Language under the Agriculture Faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on June 1, 2011. A total of 20 students participated in the programme.
Student Affair's Adviser of BAU Professor Md Mustafizur Rahman was the chief guest. The closing ceremony was also addressed among others by course coordinator Muhammad Shajedul Arifeen.
Organised by the Department of Language, the closing session was presided over by Professor Dr A K M Shamsuddin, Head of the Language Department.
Quiz Competition at East West University

The first East West University (EWU) quiz competition was held on March 31, 2011 at the university auditorium. The objective of the competition was to form EWU official Quiz teams, which are expected to participate in the different quiz competitions at national level.
On June 6, Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, President, Board of Trustees of East West University handed over the prizes to the winners in a simple ceremony at the campus. Among others, SSM Sadrul Huda, Assistant Professor and Moderator, EWU Rotaract Club was present at the occasion.
Canadian Students at AIUB
On May 30, 2011 Human Resource and Marketing Department jointly facilitated a visit for Canadian Students to the American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB). There were eight Canadian students from University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, McMaster University, and University of Waterloo. Students from AIUB and the Canadian universities were benefited from the in-depth discussion on various related local and global challenging issues i.e. economical, current market trend, political turbulence, women empowerment, lifestyles and poverty alleviation. The Canadian students were very excited to find out that the Bangladeshi students are very inquisitive to know and learn about the global issues. The group discussions were organised by Rana D Mazumder of Human Resource department and Azad Ibn Ashraf of Marketing deparment. BBA Director Dr Ehsanul Huda, Rashed Chowdhury, Head of Marketing Dept. and Farheen Hasan, Head of Human Resource and Management also took part in making this programme a success.

Orientation Programme
The 57th Orientation programme of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) ended on June 3, 2011. Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Founder and Vice- chancellor of the university, awarded Certificate of Merit Excellence to the students who scored 4.00 out of 4.00 in different semesters on the occasion.
Presided by Prof Dr M Alimullah Miyan, the orientation programmes of College of Business Administration (CBA), College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), Department of Mechanical Engineering (DME), Department of Civil Engineering (DCE), Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (DEEE), Department of Computer Science and Engineering (DCSE), College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS), Department of Economics and College of Nursing (CN) were held on different schedules arranged by the respective department and colleges.
