Northern University Bangladesh Theater arranged a three day-long workshop from July12-14. M Lutfor Rahman, Director HRD, NUB inaugurated the workshop on 12 July, as chief guest. Jhuna Chowdhury, Secretary General, Bangladesh Group Theater Federation and Momo, TV artist were present as resource person on the occasion.
Jhuna Chowdhury said that theater is an important part of our society. We can express each and every subject of the society through theater. Among others, A H M Shamim, Deputy Registrar and In-charge Public Relations Division (PRD), NUB was present on the occasion.
On the second day of the workshop renowned TV artist and member of Prachyanat Ritu A Sattar and Bakr Bakul were present as resource person. Anan Zaman, Assistant Professor, Department of Drama and Dramatics, Jahangirnagar University also attended the programme. Around 30 students of NUB participated in the workshop.
Green Campus
Initiative for education and environment, an environment awareness group formed by students from different departments of Dhaka University (DU) has planted hundreds of saplings across DU campus, under the banner Sobujer obhijan. Dr K M Saiful Islam Khan, Proctor (DU), Professor Abu Md Delwar Hossain, Abu Naser Chowdhury, (Divisional forest officer, Social Forestation Department) were present at the inauguration of the tree plantation ceremony.
RU celebrates 58th Founding Anniversary
The 58th founding anniversary of Rajshahi University was celebrated on the campus on July 12, 2011 with much enthusiasm and due festivity.
Vice Chancellor Professor Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the programme at senate building of the campus by hoisting the national flag and the university flag.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chacellor Professor Abdus Sobhan called for building Rajshahi University into an ideal educational institute suiting the needs of time. Professor Sanat Kumar Saha urged the students to build with global standard education as they need to lead the country. A number of students from RU were present to celebrate the occasion.
Towards a Digital Bangladesh

To prepare the students for the 21st century and to adapt them to the latest ICT friendly education which will develop their knowledge, skills and abilities to fit globally, Daffodil International University launched to distribute laptop at free of cost among the students on July 16, 2011 at DIU auditorium. Presided over by Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University, Nurul Islam Nahid MP, Minister for Education of Bangladesh inaugurated the laptop distribution ceremony and distributed laptop among the students as the chief guest. Vice Chancellor and Emeritus Professor of Daffodil International University graced the occasion as special guest. Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Daffodil International University delivered the welcome address at the programme.
Md Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Daffodil International University said, it was a long cherished dream of the university authority to implement the project “One Student-One Laptop” with the vision of creating a digital university in line with the policy of Digital Bangladesh.

Novartis Biocamp Bangladesh
Novartis Biocamp is the most popular biotechnology based business plan presentation and idea generation competition around the world. This is a competition for the postgraduates. MS, PhD students, corporate and academicians take part in this competition. Selection round of Bangladesh was held on July 7-9, 2011 at Brac CMD. After primary round top 16 candidates got the chance to compete in the final round. Finalist participants were from IBA, DU, Brac University, NSU, East West University, Chittagong University, BUET, Jahangirnagar University. Four groups took part in the final and their products were food preservatives, waste treatment, personalised medicine for diabetes, probiotics for health. Judges of the final round were- Syed Farhat Anwar (faculty member, IBA), Dr Haseena Khan (DU), Dr Ashfaque (USA), Imran Rahman (Faculty member, IBA). Colkick- a product of the group “Probeing” became champion.
