Asia's Best Business School Leadership Award

BRAC Business School of BRAC University received Asia's Best Business School Leadership Award presented by CMO Asia with CMO Council as its Strategic Partner and Stars of the Industry Group as a research partner. The award consists of a trophy and citation which was received by the pro-Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, Professor Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir on July 22, 2011 at Suntec, Singapore. This award is presented to individuals and institutions that have surpassed several level of its excellence and set an example for being a role model and exemplary leadership.


Foundation training for security staff at BAU

A three week long “Foundation training course on security” was concluded with a ceremonial parade at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on July 30.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M A Sattar Mandal was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. He also took salute of the newly recruited security guards at BAU who participated at the training course. Chairman of the security committee Professor Dr Md Golam Shahi Alam presided over the ceremony.

Emphasising on the training, the chief guest said that security and safety are important issues today and maintaining law and order in the campus is also very important.

He also said that for providing students a safe environment for congenial academic atmosphere, security staff should be more cautious.

Among others, superintendent of Police Khandaker Golam Faruk, chief security officer of BAU Mohammad Mohiuddin Howlader, Md Nazmul Islam were also present at the concluding ceremony.

Later, Professor Sattar Mandal distributed certificates among the 20 participants of BAU security staff.


English Language and Literature Club

The inaugural ceremony of English Language and Literature Club (ELLC), initiated by the students of English Department, Chittagong University was held on July 28, 2011. The club was formed to bring out the excellence in the students and to act as a bridge between the students and teachers. Professor Quazi Mostain Billah was present at the ceremony. Several co-curricular activities were emphasised on that very day of inauguration. The ELLC team also expressed their foresighted plan including publishing literary magazines and advocating group study. To deal with the highly competitive job market, the club will work as an aid.


Career Talk Session with Leaders Held at BSDI

On July 28, Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) organised a career talk show, “Career Talk Session with Leaders” and a specialised workshop on developing leadership quality and personal etiquette and grooming for the students. The key note speaker and chief guest of the session was Shahjahan Sarder, Editor, “The Bangladesh Pratidin”. Professor Dr M Lutfor Rahman, Vice Chancellor of the Daffodil International University was present at the occasion as the special speaker. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the Director and Principal of BSDI chaired the programme. Among others, Rathindra Nath Das, Director of DIPTI and Engineer Md Azharul Islam, Advisor of BSDI were present at the occasion .

The chief guest in his speech urged every student to be punctual in all aspects of life. He also described that the success in career and life can only be achieved if we have clear perspective on career objective, determination and dedication. He appreciated BSDI for arranging such a programme and appreciated the Daffodil Group. The Vice Chancellor explained why technical education is important in life and also advised the students to use technology in the proper way. KM Hasan Ripon, Deputy Director of BSDI was the Moderator of the career talk session.


National Electronic Project Exhibition and Competition

Golam Samadani and Toufiqur Rahman of Southern University Bangladesh received first prize at the National Electronic Project Exhibition and Competition (NEPEC-2011), held at East West University.

28 different types of project from different universities including Dhaka University, North South University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), East West University and 15 other participated in the project exhibition and competition.

Samadani and Toufiq are students of Computer Science and Information Technology Department of Southern University Bangladesh. The main theme of their project was “Smart home security system and appliance control by GSM technology”.

After the competition, chief guest Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, former Vice Chancellor of BRAC University handed over the first prize award to the champions.
