Ordeal at New Campus

The first two weeks at the new campus of East West University turned out to be an ordeal for the students. The air conditions did not work (still not working) and some of the classrooms did not have either fans or ac, for which students suffered a lot in the heat. Moreover, there wasn't any water in the bathroom. Even now, water is unavailable from time to time. The construction is still going on and teachers have to shout in huge classrooms because of the noise the fans make. My question is why the authority had to move to the new campus without proper planning. It was sheer neglect and also cruelty, because at the end of the day the teachers and the students are the ones who are suffering.

An Inspirational Book

Image: Internet

Recently I read 'Tareque Masud: Life and Dreams', a commemorative book on internationally acclaimed director Tareque Masud. The book features excerpts by the speakers at a commemoration programme that took place held on August 26, 2011 following the untimely demise of Tareque Masud. It portrays the life of the director as well as the aesthetic and artistic aspects of his movies. It's still quite difficult to accept the harsh truth that Tareque Masud is no longer among us. Reading about him and watching his movies will keep alive. I hope that the young people out there buy the book and give it a read.

Congratulating HOV

It is my immense pleasure to congratulate all the members of 'House of Volunteers' who have successfully organised the life saving project titled 'Earthquake Awareness Campaign' in order to create awareness among our students to reduce the loss and damages during the devastating occurrence of an earthquake. The vivid presentation of providing information, including necessary instructions like keeping helmets and fire extinguisher was very helpful. It will be great if this organisation keeps continuing its efforts to make students aware and serve the nation. If more young people keep taking such initiatives to carry out awareness programmes, it will not be too long that we can create a safe future for the generations to come.

Euro Mania!

After such a good spotlight on the 'Euro Cup' a couple weeks ago, I was expecting Star Campus would also publish a review of the final game. A game that made history in many different sectors should have gotten a review from the magazine. I personally believe that sports reviews make great reads for students. It will be nice if the magazine can publish reviews on sports every once in a while. Considering both cricket and football, it is something all the teenagers and university going students like to read and stay updated about.
